(PLVN) - Following the conclusion of the peak summer tourist season of 2024, Vietnam's tourism industry is entering a "lull" before welcoming the autumn-winter tourist season in the coming months. The National Day holiday on September 2nd is an opportunity to revitalize the tourism market, which has been "cooling down" in recent weeks.
"Heating up" day by day.
With the four-day National Day holiday on September 2nd this year, Vietnamese people have many travel destination options. According to data released by travel companies, short domestic tours are currently the preferred choice for tourists. Attractive destinations such as Da Lat, Nha Trang, Ha Giang , Moc Chau, Ha Long, Thanh Hoa, etc., are receiving particular attention. These are ideal locations for tourists to relax, unwind, and immerse themselves in the beautiful and majestic natural landscapes of Vietnam.
Several travel companies are currently fully booked. For example, Saigontourist Travel Company reported that its September 2nd holiday tours have reached 88% of their planned capacity, while BestPrice Travel Company has achieved 60-70% of its target for the holiday period. Tourist destinations are also becoming increasingly popular. Da Lat, a highly sought-after destination for the September 2nd holiday, has seen a slight increase in room rates at various accommodations.
Tourist destinations in Ha Giang, Moc Chau, and Yen Bai are currently experiencing the peak rice harvest season. With mild and pleasant weather and picturesque natural scenery, many tourists have chosen these locations for their upcoming holidays. Numerous resorts, homestays, and guesthouses have already been booked by visitors.
Several provinces and localities have had to develop plans to ensure that hotel rooms are not fully booked like in previous years during the National Day holiday on September 2nd. For example, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has prepared for the September 2nd holiday early, including plans to supplement and innovate products and services, etc.
The tourist transportation market is also heating up day by day. Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) announced that it will increase the number of passenger trains and offer preferential policies for passengers buying tickets for the September 2nd holiday. Specifically, during the National Day holiday on September 2nd (from August 29th to September 3rd), passengers buying round-trip train tickets will receive a 5% discount on the return ticket price for individuals and a 7% discount for groups of 20 or more people.
In contrast to train fares, airfares tend to increase during holidays. According to surveys, many domestic routes have high prices, such as Hanoi - Phu Quoc, Hanoi - Con Dao, and Hanoi - Nha Trang. Round-trip tickets (for flights departing on August 31st and returning on September 3rd) from many airlines are also in high demand.
VietJet and Vietnam Airlines also have fares ranging from 7 to 8 million VND, an increase of about 2 to 3 million VND compared to the end of July and beginning of August.
Many attractive tourism products
Recognizing the strong increase in domestic tourism demand during the upcoming holidays, many provinces and localities have prepared attractive programs, promising to bring unique experiences to tourists.
On September 1st and 2nd, Ha Long (Quang Ninh) will host the 2024 festival themed "Heritage City - Colors of Ha Long," where locals and tourists will have the opportunity to experience hot air balloon rides and sightseeing. The festival also serves as an opportunity to promote the image of Ha Long, a heritage city, its culture, and its people. This program is one of the activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of Ha Long Bay becoming a World Natural Heritage Site (1994-2024).
During the holiday period, Quang Binh province will also organize traditional boat racing festivals; cultural and artistic activities; sports events; and trade fairs. In addition to cultural destinations and scenic spots, Quang Binh province will also host the Regal Legend music event with a fireworks display, promising to delight visitors and locals alike.
From August 28th to September 4th, Moc Chau district (Son La province) will organize the 2024 Moc Chau District Culture and Tourism Week, themed “Moc Chau - The Call of the Season of Love”. The highlight will be the art program “Enchanting Night of Dating”, and the announcement of the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage including: the “Rain Prayer Festival” of the White Thai people in Muong Sang commune; the art of decorating costumes of the Dao Tien people; and the Mo Muong ritual of the Muong ethnic group…
Also during the National Day holiday, Sa Pa will host the 2024 Sa Pa Autumn Festival with the theme "Sa Pa in the Golden Season," featuring many attractive and impressive activities. The festival includes cultural and folk art performances of the Mong ethnic group; folk games; demonstrations of traditional Mong handicrafts; blacksmithing of agricultural tools, silver carving, weaving, indigo dyeing, beeswax pattern painting on linen, and traditional shoe making…
