Also attending were leaders of functional units of the Ministry of Education and Training , the Board of Directors of Friendship School 80 and Friendship School T78.
Implementing the agreement between the two governments , every year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training hosts about 500 Lao officials and students for short-term internships and long-term studies. Of these, 120 to 130 are short-term interns for 2-3 months; about 350 are long-term students. 40 Lao students study at high schools, the rest study at universities and graduate schools.
Of the more than 300 undergraduate and graduate students, about 100 who already know Vietnamese according to regulations will be able to enter the specialized program directly. The majority of the rest will be arranged to study preparatory language at Friendship Schools T78 and Friendship Schools 80, a few will study at othereducational institutions and then enter the specialized program at schools in this area.
The selection of Lao cadres and students to study in Vietnam is the responsibility of the Lao side based on the policy of balancing human resource development needs to ensure meeting the socio-economic and cultural development needs of the country. The selection criteria comply with the Protocol on training cooperation between the two countries.

According to Ms. Chu Kim Phuong, Principal of Friendship School 80, the school is currently carrying out 4 tasks including: Teaching high school students for ethnic minorities, Kinh people and Lao students; providing preparatory Vietnamese language training for Lao and Cambodian students; organizing exams and assessing Vietnamese language proficiency for foreigners; and providing professional training for Lao teachers.
As a school with many special characteristics in terms of educational objects, with the goal of building Friendship School 80 as a cultural center, a place to nurture international students, a bridge to foster solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, the school has built special educational content, experiences imbued with national cultural identity, fostering solidarity and close ties between the two countries.

Meanwhile, a representative of T78 Friendship School said that the school's main task is to implement high school education programs and Vietnamese language preparation for Lao students. Thereby, concretizing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's foreign affairs policies, and fostering the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
At the meeting, representatives of the two schools raised a number of difficulties in enrollment, many students did not meet training requirements, the annual assignment of training quotas for international students was often late, causing difficulties in preparing for the new school year and implementing the program, and the delay in allocating funds to international students...
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong said: In recent years, educational cooperation between Vietnam and Laos has achieved many positive results. Training institutions in Vietnam always pay special attention to Lao students, applying many creative solutions to support the learning process such as the model of sending students to local people's homes, organizing professional capacity building programs, adding specialized Vietnamese language subjects and university preparatory programs.
Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong said that the Ministry of Education and Training is preparing conditions to make Lao one of the eight foreign languages taught in Vietnamese schools; initially, it will be piloted for students in border areas. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Training hopes that Laos will continue to support, especially in matters related to textbooks, language teaching, and teacher training.
