Entering the era of Industry 4.0, the education sector in Son La province is striving to transform itself, gradually modernizing teaching activities to meet the requirements of improving the overall quality of education . This innovation is reflected not only in pedagogical methods, but also in thinking, organizational management, technology utilization, and the creation of a friendly and effective learning environment.
Currently, the province has 609 educational institutions with over 379,800 students. The school network has been expanded and rationally distributed, ensuring that the learning needs of students in all regions are met.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang, Deputy Director of the Son La Department of Education and Training, the province has 23,546 teachers and administrators, including 1 Associate Professor, 4 PhDs, 430 Master's degree holders, and nearly 17,000 with university or college degrees. "We focus on training and professional development to improve management and teaching capabilities, meeting the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive educational reform," Mr. Quang stated.

The facilities have been invested in comprehensively.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Son La province will enroll over 52,000 new students in the first grades of each level. The educational infrastructure system will continue to be invested in a comprehensive and modern manner.
The percentage of solid classrooms reached 73%, and semi-solid classrooms exceeded 24%. Auxiliary facilities such as libraries, laboratories, subject-specific classrooms, boarding houses, dining halls, clean water supply, and toilets have received investment and effectively serve the learning needs of students, especially in boarding and semi-boarding schools in disadvantaged areas.
The results of the 2024 high school graduation exam show a positive shift: 11,544 out of 11,561 candidates passed, achieving a pass rate of 99.85% (an increase of 0.16% compared to 2023). The average score reached 6.4 points, an increase of 0.29 points. Notably, the graduation rate for the continuing education system reached 99.91%, ranking third nationwide.
Stabilizing education after organizational restructuring.
From July 1st, 2025, after the reorganization of the two-tiered administrative structure, schools in Son La will be managed according to the new administrative boundaries. Mr. Nguyen Chi Chung, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, affirmed: "The Department has proactively guided schools to implement administrative adjustments, ensuring uninterrupted teaching and learning activities and the rights of students."
Alongside organizational stability, the education sector continues to implement a roadmap to raise the training standards for teachers at all levels, especially in the implementation of the 2018 general education program. Training linked to practical needs helps ensure the structure, quality, and quantity of the teaching staff.

The Department of Education and Training of Son La province continues to focus on educating students in ethics, lifestyle, life skills, and vocational skills, while promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style in schools.
The Department of Education and Training has directed the strengthening of measures to prevent and combat school violence; providing guidance on handling situations for administrators and teachers to ensure a healthy and safe learning environment. In addition, efforts to mobilize social resources and prioritize investment in disadvantaged areas have been intensified, contributing to narrowing the gap in educational quality between regions.
