The tournament was attended by more than 370 domestic and international martial artists from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore and host Vietnam. The martial artists competed in combat events (youth U14, youth U17 and champion) and performed Quyen (standard and creative events). The Vietnamese team participated in the tournament with a strong force of 115 members.
After 3 days of exciting competition, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation had a successful tournament and won the first place overall with a total of 125 medals, including 43 Gold Medals, 36 Silver Medals and 46 Bronze Medals. This impressive achievement had a great contribution from the Vietnam 1 team, with 32 Gold Medals, 14 Silver Medals and 9 Bronze Medals. Meanwhile, Vietnam 2 ranked second overall with 11 Gold Medals, 19 Silver Medals and 23 Bronze Medals.
Contributing to the overall success, Son La athletes achieved impressive results with 4 gold medals and 1 bronze medal. Among them, athletes Nguyen Duc Trung in the 45kg category, Hoang Thi Thu Huyen in the 44kg category, Luong Thi Hai Yen in the 46kg category, and Bac Thi Khiem in the 67kg category all won gold medals; athlete Lem Thi Thao won a bronze medal in the 67kg category.
Immediately after the tournament ended, the athletes continued to participate in the 21st International Club Taekwondo Championship from August 22 to 25, with the participation of more than 350 athletes from 8 countries. This is an important tournament for the coaching staff of the Vietnamese Taekwondo team to review their strength before the 33rd SEA Games.
