Mr. Tran Van Thang, Chairman of the Son Tra Local Culinary Tourism Club, believes this is the beginning of a proposal for a planning, investment, and positioning of local cultural tourism values, serving as a basis for the locality to orient towards sustainable tourism economic development.
Mr. Thang stated that the idea of shaping local culinary cultural values, as a basis for promoting fundamental cultural values, has been a goal of the Son Tra Local Culinary Tourism Club since its inception.
Mr. Hoang Son Tra, Secretary of Son Tra Ward, once questioned tourism businesses about why a peninsula with significant tourism potential and centuries of cultural history could not have a future plan for coastal tourism. This prompted those involved in tourism on the Son Tra peninsula to re-evaluate their operations and choose the right fundamental values to consider for investment.
“After numerous exchanges and dialogues, we have jointly found practical ideas, based on the real-life experiences of the fishermen and local communities, affirming the values of traditional culinary culture. From dishes and natural specialties harvested in the Son Tra sea area to the origins and rituals of the fishing villages and hamlets here, the data provides sufficient basis to affirm a fundamental value, with living heritage and intangible cultural heritage in the Son Tra beach area,” Mr. Thang concluded.
Subsequently, the People's Committee of Son Tra Ward requested and proactively connected with food, tourism, and consulting units operating in the area, proposing cooperation and suggesting programs and ideas for developing unique local culinary and tourism products.

At a recent exchange session at the end of April 2026, the leaders of Son Tra ward and interested parties outlined three key areas for implementation in 2026.
This includes establishing a brand identity for Son Tra's cuisine early on, coordinating with Da Nang's culture and tourism sector to develop a portion of the Da Nang - Son Tra culinary digital map; researching and formulating a project for a cultural and culinary tourism district in the ward; and establishing a committee to propose a project for an indigenous tourism destination in Man Thai neighborhood, Son Tra, at the Whale Mausoleum and Tan Thai fishing village.
According to Mr. Dinh Vui, Chairman of the Son Tra Ward People's Committee, investment proposals and planning are essential for the area to be planned and to have the necessary infrastructure for effective implementation, which is crucial for the development of local cultural tourism.
Local authorities are very interested in and supportive of these proposals, identifying them as effective solutions to elevate the status of local culinary culture, opening up good avenues for exploiting cultural tourism opportunities at the grassroots level, while simultaneously preserving "original" traditional values and integrating new, modern investment initiatives that meet the needs of tourists and young people in Da Nang, thereby increasing the economic and cultural investment value of Son Tra ward.
Creating leverage for the sustainable development of cultural tourism.
In the context of the current volatile local tourism economy, the planning, investment cooperation calls, and proposed development plans that Son Tra ward wants to implement are sustainable solutions for the overall socio-economic planning landscape in the area.
According to Mr. Tran Van Thang, the Son Tra district had previously planned many action programs to promote grassroots culture; now that the area has been divided into two key wards, Son Tra and An Hai, it is even more favorable for plans to invest in local brands and exploit opportunities for cultural tourism.

Along with Son Tra, the leaders of An Hai ward have also been actively involved in connecting and promoting brand values and traditional culture, such as launching their own brand identity and launching many vibrant tourism stimulus and local culture promotion programs.
In summary, these programs can be said to have made Son Tra Peninsula a focal point for innovative ideas on exploiting local cultural values, providing practical solutions, and supporting organizations, businesses, and local people in effectively developing their livelihoods and making sustainable economic investments.
However, according to Mr. Hoang Son Tra, investment activities and the formation of development strategies in the locality over the past period have mainly relied on the proactive efforts of organizations and businesses.
In the new situation, local authorities need to change their management mindset, proactively propose more creative and dynamic solutions, and expand the playing field for the private sector to develop. Only then can they truly create powerful levers to elevate the local economy.
Son Tra, a vibrant development area of Da Nang city over the past 20 years, now needs to accurately identify its current situation and opportunities in order to organize rational planning and attract effective social investment.
Therefore, the government will pay more attention to organizing networking events and listening to organizations and businesses in the future, with a spirit of action rather than just discussion.
“We believe that awareness and action in developing grassroots culture must be a sustainable foundation for local economic investment orientation. Once promoted, it will yield enormous value. Not only Son Tra, but we believe that all communes and wards in Da Nang recognize these opportunities and challenges, only then can we successfully build a new, more beautiful Da Nang city,” Mr. Hoang Son Tra shared.
