| Many customers choose products made from purple rice. |
Every morning, Ms. Nga dresses simply, with neatly arranged purple lunch boxes, fragrant with the smell of freshly cooked rice, behind her cart, ready for her street vending through the alleys of the city. After buying a lunch box from her and inviting her to rest in the shade, during our conversation, I sensed a special quality in her – the quality of a woman who has experienced many hardships but still retains her faith and love for life.
Ms. Nga was once very seriously ill. During her time in the hospital bed, she thought she had little chance of returning to a normal life. But it was during her journey to regain her health that fate led her to organic products, especially purple rice (one of the healthy rice varieties from Japan).
She began to change her diet, consistently using clean food and limiting chemicals and industrial additives. Miraculously, her health gradually recovered.
Ms. Nga said that the days she went through with illness made her deeply understand the value of health and clean food. When she recovered her health, she didn't choose to return to her old life but decided to start a new journey - a journey of spreading a healthy lifestyle through products made from organic purple rice.
Since then, the image of the woman wandering through the streets with her purple lunch boxes has become familiar to many people in Tich Luong ward and some neighboring communes and wards.
Previously, Ms. Nga was an employee at Thai Nguyen University of Education. However, after a health setback, she decided to resign to dedicate herself entirely to selling organic purple rice meals. This decision surprised many. Some sympathized, others were understanding, but there were also those who criticized and made malicious comments. Some even said she was "not normal" for giving up a stable job to sell meal boxes that only yielded a few thousand dong profit per box.

Ms. Nga said: Organic purple rice is considered by many to be "golden food" for health. Dark purple rice contains a high amount of anthocyanin – a natural antioxidant that helps prevent aging, protect cardiovascular health, and boost immunity.
This type of rice is rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, which helps support digestion, stabilize blood sugar, and create a feeling of fullness. The fact that it is grown organically, without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, also gives consumers greater peace of mind when using it long-term in their daily meals.
Her sincerity and enthusiasm gradually won people's hearts. Many customers, after trying her products, became regulars. Currently, on average, Ms. Nga sells around one ton of organic purple rice and various processed products made from purple rice each month. This figure not only shows the effectiveness of her business but also reflects the growing spread of the green and clean lifestyle she is pursuing.
What is most valuable is that in everything she does, she always upholds her core values: "heart, vision, humanity, and kindness." She explains: "Heart" is the desire to help farmers reduce the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers to produce clean agricultural products. "Vision" is the aspiration to contribute to enabling more Vietnamese people to use organic products. "Humanity" is working together to protect the living environment. And "Kindness" is leaving a better way of life for her children and grandchildren.
