In the past, many women, after retiring, would often stay at home, their faces reflecting sadness and disappointment after years of hard work. They felt life was moving slower and more desolate.
Nowadays, many retired women seem younger; they "design" their own retirement days to be truly joyful, youthful, and full of laughter.
Life has turned a new page, blossoming!
Ms. Bich Huong (56 years old, residing in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) recounts that when she first retired, many people often asked her, "Are you sad about retirement?". However, for her, life in retirement has turned a new page and blossomed.
Previously, when she was still working, Ms. Bich Huong was busy and stressed, only able to relax a little on weekends. Because work took up almost all of her time, she rarely had time to do the things she enjoyed.
Since retiring, she has had plenty of time to herself. She has complete freedom to "design" her life according to her wishes and preferences. And so began those "bustling" and "blooming" days.
Ms. Bich Huong enrolled in two dance classes: one classical dance class and one freestyle dance class. When she was younger, she loved watching movies where the main characters, belonging to the aristocracy, danced classical dances! But she only managed to enroll in classes after retiring.
As for the freestyle dance class, it's taught for free by a foreigner in the park near her house. The members of the dance class are very diverse, ranging from 20-year-old girls to 80-year-old grandmothers. Everyone feels happy when they come to the class because they feel their spirits are lifted, they get to do what they like, and even the dance moves are very... free.
Attending this dance class allows her to talk to and interact with young people, understanding their way of thinking and current trends. She can meet people her own age to share and listen to their stories, and meet older people to learn from their experience.
In the mornings, Ms. Huong also has a group of friends who exercise together. Some days they walk, some days they jog, then they have breakfast together and chat until 9 a.m. before going home.
The group of friends who exercise in the morning all have positive energy, so they have a very positive outlook on everything. Along their familiar daily exercise route, the group members discover new and charming things each day.
It could be a tree blooming with many beautiful flowers, or the sky taking on a unique appearance... These discoveries were all captured in stunning photographs taken by one of the group members. She also has a "non-polluting" group that includes cycling and walking together...
Among the groups, Huong is closest to the "sisters by chance" group. This group consists of sisters who met by "fate" and became like sisters, as close as family. Members share their problems and offer each other advice.
Some are doctors, engineers, some have PhDs in environmental science, others work in business... so we learn a lot from each other when we talk.
"The women often advise each other on health, lifestyle , and fashion ," Huong recounted. When a good movie comes out, they invite each other to watch it, engaging in lively discussions about the film they've just seen.
Besides participating in various groups, Huong also taught herself English using a software program, so she had no time to be bored.

Age is just a number. Don't let those numbers control you. I love people and I deeply love life. I always believe that "every morning we wake up, we have another day to love."

A glorious retirement
Similarly, Ms. Cao Thanh Xuan (62 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) also believes that the "brightest" years of her life are her retirement years. For Ms. Thanh Xuan, these days are even happier than her younger days.
In her younger years, Ms. Xuan had many things to worry about, such as studying, getting married, earning money, having children, and raising them... "There were so many things to worry about." But after retiring, with her children all grown up, Ms. Xuan decided to live for herself and take better care of herself.
Every week she goes for facials and body treatments. She has a group of friends she's known since childhood, a morning exercise group, and she's currently taking a dancersport class with younger people.
In previous years, she and her husband traveled to many countries around the world . Her husband passed away three years ago, so now whenever she travels, she invites her friends along.
"I believe that self-care isn't about doing it for others, but for myself. When I see myself looking beautiful and dressed nicely, I feel confident and happy... Life blossoms and becomes more vibrant as a result," Thanh Xuan confided.
Looking at Ms. Ngo Xuan Hoa (residing in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City), no one would guess she is 59 years old. She dresses very fashionably in bright, eye-catching colors, always looking youthful and full of vitality.
Even after retirement, her life remains vibrant with self-care plans, socializing with friends, and learning subjects she loves such as piano and painting. Hoa's secret to staying full of energy is always thinking positively and remembering that she is still very young.
According to the women, one thing that's quite important for a happy and fulfilling retirement is to have a solid financial foundation while still working. Additionally, it's best not to live with your children and grandchildren. Once your children get married, you should let them live separately. And you should also have your own life...
