Because of the belief that “girls don’t need to study much”, her parents didn’t want her to continue her education after finishing high school. In the poor countryside nearly 40 years ago, it was normal for girls to drop out of school early to help support their families and then get married. However, in the heart of that young girl, the flame of love for teaching was lit from her school days. She dreamed of one day standing on the podium, teaching and inspiring students like the teachers who had guided her.
Overcoming prejudice and family opposition, she was determined to pass the entrance exam to the local Pedagogical College. The years of studying in the lecture hall were a challenging time, lacking in material things and lacking family sympathy, but it was also a journey to train her character and nurture her love for the profession. After graduating, she was assigned to teach Literature at a rural middle school. With her love for the profession, she was always persistent and dedicated to imparting knowledge, helping many generations of students love the written word, feel the beauty of language and life; and become useful people for society.
After more than 30 years in the classroom, she still keeps the same strong and warm passion for her profession as in the beginning. Not only is she a good teacher, she is also a sister, a second mother to her students, always listening attentively, sharing, and encouraging them to overcome difficulties in studying and life. Many generations of her students have grown up, some of them have become her colleagues, this makes her even more proud of her work.
Now, with her hair turning gray, every time she looks back on the past, she always feels satisfied. It is the teaching profession that has given her joy and happiness, the happiness of sowing knowledge, witnessing students grow up, and contributing a small part to the noble cause of educating people. The story of her journey of overcoming prejudice to pursue her dream is a vivid testament to the determination, faith and love for the profession of today's teachers.
