Returning after his loan spell at Arsenal, Sterling is no longer part of the Stamford Bridge club's plans. This has caused the relationship between the two sides to cool, opening up the possibility of a parting of ways in the near future.
Chelsea are now keen to offload their winger, who earns £325,000 a week, in order to reduce their wage bill. West Ham are among the clubs that have expressed early interest in loaning the former England international for the second half of the season.
However, according to The Times , the English player rejected the offer.

Instead, Sterling preferred a move to Fulham – a rival club in West London with Chelsea. While West Ham are facing relegation, Fulham are currently in 11th place.
Sterling joined Chelsea from Man City in 2022 for a fee of £50 million and his contract with the club still has 18 months remaining.
The striker, who won four Premier League titles with the Etihad Stadium club, wants to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent transfer, rather than continuing to play on loan.
Remember last summer's transfer window, Sterling wasn't keen on offers from Juventus or Bayer Leverkusen, as he wanted to stay in London to be close to his family. This also ruled out the possibility of him moving to Saudi Arabia despite being offered a lucrative contract.
Sterling's potential move to Fulham will increase if winger Adama Traore leaves the club this month, following interest from West Ham.
Besides West Ham and Fulham, Crystal Palace is also reportedly interested in Sterling to strengthen their squad competing in European competitions.
At 31 years old, Sterling has made 81 appearances for Chelsea and scored 19 goals. However, he is not in manager Enzo Maresca's plans and has had to train separately this season, after rejecting a summer transfer opportunity.
Manager Enzo Maresca has now left Chelsea, as the club searches for a new manager, and Raheem Sterling's future at Stamford Bridge is almost certainly over.
In other developments, Man City are close to a £65 million deal to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, Juventus, AC Milan, and Barcelona are all closely monitoring the situation of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.
Furthermore, Marc Guehi's potential move to Liverpool may not be immediately realized, as the reigning champions prefer to wait until the summer to sign him on a free transfer.
