In 2015, Mr. Ngo Van Cong's family in Han Da village, Chi Lang commune, acquired 10 hectares of land from several households in the village to plant fruit trees. Mr. Cong shared: “Recognizing that Thai bananas and pink Cavendish bananas are easy to grow and suitable for the alluvial soil along the Duong River, I imported over 20,000 banana saplings to plant. This type of tree prefers moist conditions, so it requires frequent watering and pruning. The trees are also susceptible to yellow leaf disease and stem borers, so during cultivation, I always pay attention to garden hygiene, pruning diseased leaves, and timely spraying. To ensure the bananas are uniform, large, and sweet, it's crucial to fertilize according to the "four correct principles," and during the fruiting stage, I increase the application of phosphorus and potassium.” With 20,000 Thai banana and pink Cavendish banana saplings, selling at an average price of 100,000-200,000 VND per bunch, Mr. Cong's family earns 2-3 billion VND in revenue, and after deducting expenses, they make a profit of about 400 million VND per year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Minh's model of growing cantaloupe in greenhouses yields a profit of 300-400 million VND per year. |
In 2022, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, from Han Da village, leased over 2 acres of riverside land along the Duong River to invest in greenhouses for high-tech cantaloupe cultivation. According to Mr. Minh, growing cantaloupe in greenhouses brings in a fairly high income. Thanks to good nutrition and safe cultivation techniques, the product always ensures quality and meets the requirements for consumption in school cafeterias, organic food stores, and large supermarkets inside and outside the province. Each year, after deducting expenses, Mr. Minh's family earns a profit of 300-400 million VND.
Chi Lang commune has over 240 hectares of riverside land along the Duong River. In previous years, the land was divided equally among the population, resulting in fragmented plots (100-200 m² /household), making it difficult to invest in agricultural production. Some households in the commune have boldly consolidated riverside land from other households in the village and commune to invest in developing high-tech agricultural models and increase income. Those who lack the resources for production rent out their land at prices ranging from 1.2 to 1.5 million VND/sao/year.
To support households in consolidating riverside land for high-tech, large-scale agricultural production, in addition to the provincial policies on supporting regional planning, investing in irrigation systems, and transportation for product procurement, the Chi Lang Commune People's Committee acts as a guarantor and assists households in completing the necessary procedures to obtain loans. Currently, the commune has approximately 25 households that have consolidated 1 hectare or more of land to invest in high-tech agricultural models with production linkages, contributing to the stable and sustainable development of agriculture.
