With its synchronized transportation infrastructure, Quang Ninh is one of the leading provinces in innovation and a growth pole in the North. Quang Ninh has a rapidly growing economy, reaching VND 315,839 billion in 2023, 5.7 times higher than in 2010, ranking third in the Northern region (after Hanoi and Hai Phong), contributing 10.1% to the total economy of the Red River Delta region. Quang Ninh has always recognized transportation as the lifeblood of its economy, and has therefore developed a roadmap to gradually remove institutional and resource bottlenecks in order to invest in a comprehensive transportation infrastructure.

Notably, from 2019 to the present, Quang Ninh province has completed all three "gateways" to connect with the world with its airport, seaport, and over 176km of expressways running along the province. This synchronized development makes travel and connectivity between Quang Ninh and other provinces, regions, and internationally faster, safer, and more convenient.

Specifically, investors from South Korea and Japan can reach Ha Long in just 4 hours by plane. Instead of the previous 3.5 hours from Hanoi to Ha Long and 6 hours to Mong Cai City, travel time is now only half that thanks to Quang Ninh's 176km expressway connecting to the Hai Phong - Hanoi - Lao Cai expressway. This transportation route creates strong links with China and ASEAN countries.

Provincial Road 342, connecting Ha Long City with Ba Che District in Quang Ninh Province and leading to Lang Son Province, is currently undergoing investment and completion.

Speaking with a reporter from Giao Thong Newspaper, a leader of the Quang Ninh Department of Transport said: Currently, the locality is continuing to implement many key transportation projects worth tens of thousands of billions of VND to create regional and inter-regional connections. When these projects are put into operation, they will provide new impetus for Quang Ninh to develop more sustainably and efficiently.

Transportation plays a role in strengthening national defense and security.

Located in a strategic position "backed by mountains and facing the sea," Quang Ninh occupies a vital gateway and frontier in the Northeast region of the country, holding a crucial position in terms of politics, economics, culture, national defense, security, and foreign relations.

The synchronized development of transportation infrastructure means that the task of building a national defense system integrated with a people's security posture in Quang Ninh is becoming increasingly easier to implement.

In particular, recently, Quang Ninh has been effectively implementing the policy of building and developing the province into a solid defense zone in terms of national defense and security, and a frontline for international economic cooperation and competition.

The newly opened National Highway 18C, connecting Hai Son commune with National Highway 18 in Mong Cai city, has created new momentum and strength for socio-economic development linked to national defense and security in the land border region of Quang Ninh.

Accordingly, all transportation programs and projects serving the socio-economic development of localities are closely linked to the national defense and security posture according to the motto "Every step of economic, cultural, and social development is a step towards strengthening national defense and security"...

Specifically, in the land border area, Quang Ninh has recently invested thousands of billions of VND to complete a comprehensive transportation infrastructure.

A prime example is the inter-communal road project in Binh Lieu district, worth over 420 billion VND, connecting the inland area to the border ring road, which is currently under construction.

According to a leader of the Binh Lieu District Military Command, the implementation of this project not only creates a new socio-economic development opportunity for ethnic minority communities in the border area but also plays a particularly important role in building the national defense and security posture in the area…

The naval forces stationed in Quang Ninh province are always ready to defend the sovereignty of the sacred sea and islands in the Northeast region of the Fatherland.

Since September 2023, Quang Ninh has completed phase 2 of the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 18C, connecting Hai Son commune with National Highway 18 in Mong Cai city. With a length of 14.13 km and a total investment of 297 billion VND, this has created new advantages for socio-economic development and strengthened national defense and security in Quang Ninh's land border region.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Nam, Commander of Po Hen Border Guard Station, Mong Cai City, said: "Since the road was put into use, it has not only helped the lives of ethnic minorities in the border area develop faster and more stably, but also created favorable conditions for border guard units to carry out patrol and protection duties along the border, boundary markers, and maintain security and order in the area."

In the coastal border area of ​​Quang Ninh, many key transportation projects have been implemented, making significant contributions to socio-economic development and strengthening national defense and security capabilities.
