Excitedly showing us the new bridge on the road leading to the hamlet, Mr. Ngo Xuan Minh, head of Dong Muon residential group, shared: "Before the bridge was built, transportation to the area was very difficult. Every time it rained heavily, the whole hamlet would be isolated. Thanks to the attention of the Party and the State, the new bridge was built, completed, and put into use, facilitating trade, and the people are very happy."
The Dong Muon residential area has 67 households and 236 residents, the majority of whom are Dao ethnic people. About a decade ago, the economic life of the people was extremely difficult.
Following the direction of the local government, people focus on developing tea cultivation, forestry, and livestock farming, or work as laborers in companies…
To date, many spacious houses have been built in Dong Muon, and the electricity, road, school, and health station systems have been invested in quite comprehensively.
In Dong Muon, there are currently only 2 poor households, no near-poor households, average income reaches approximately 43 million VND/person/year, 100% of children of school age attend school, and there are no students dropping out mid-level…

Mr. Ha Duc Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Thuan Ward, said: "Dong Muon residential area has a very favorable and important location. It is located within the planned concentrated livestock farming area, which has been approved by the competent authority in the land use plan for the period 2021-2030. This provides a legal basis and an opportunity for Dong Muon residential area in particular and Phuc Thuan Ward in general to develop in the future."
At the Dong Muon neighborhood cultural center, the sounds of laughter and conversation filled the air as women practiced traditional ethnic songs. Ms. Dang Thi Hoa, one of the elderly residents of Dong Muon neighborhood, shared: "The economic life of the people has changed a lot; young people have gone out to work, but we still want to preserve our ethnic identity. We want our children to learn the common language and still know our ethnic language."
Besides preserving their language and writing system, the people of Dong Muon still maintain all the traditional customs and practices of the Dao ethnic group. From clothing, funeral rites, wedding ceremonies, New Year's dances, and coming-of-age ceremonies, these are still passed down to younger generations. Through this, they educate the younger generation about moral values, rules of conduct within the community, and strengthen neighborly bonds.

Recognizing that preserving the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities is a crucial task, Mr. Ha Duc Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Thuan Ward, affirmed: "Right from the time the two-tiered local government model came into operation, we have implemented policies and guiding documents to preserve and promote the fine cultural traditions of the ethnic communities in the area."
Recent economic and infrastructure development is transforming the face of Dong Muon. Smooth concrete roads have replaced the old dirt roads, houses are more spacious, and living standards are higher.
In every home, the familiar sound of the Dao language still resonates; traditional costumes are still preserved by women and worn by young men and women on every festival and celebration; traditional rituals are still observed with solemnity. The vitality of Dong Muon comes not only from the changes of the present but also from the traditional cultural values that are being persistently preserved through generations.
