On the morning of March 12, the Nghi Son town police (Thanh Hoa province) announced that they are temporarily detaining Nguyen Van Thanh (born in 1994, residing in Thuy Ninh commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province) for investigation into the act of resisting public officials.
Earlier, at approximately 10:15 AM on March 11th, at the Nghi Son intersection on the Nghi Son - Dien Chau expressway, in Tan Truong commune (Nghi Son town), Team 3, Unit 4, Department 6, Traffic Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) was conducting patrol and control duties to ensure traffic safety. At this time, the team spotted a tractor-trailer with license plate 15C-209.32 towing a trailer with license plate 15R-113.71, driven by Nguyen Van Thanh, entering a road marked with a "no entry" sign.
Upon spotting the vehicle violating traffic regulations, the task force signaled it to stop. However, the driver, Nguyen Van Thanh, disregarded the order and sped past the task force, attempting to escape. The task force pursued him in their patrol car.
Upon reaching Km 369+200 on the Nghi Son - Dien Chau expressway, in Phu Son commune (Nghi Son town), the patrol car overtook the container truck and signaled it to stop. At this point, Thanh continued driving the container truck and rammed straight into the rear of the patrol car. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the rear of the patrol car was damaged.
