In Shiyan City, Hubei Province, China, staff at the city's data bureau have been using drones for aerial reconnaissance and patrols, monitoring traffic at intersections and highways, and being ready to respond to any potential situations.
Meng Yuxiao, a data officer in Zhangwan County, said: "It only takes five minutes for the drone to arrive at the scene and send back live images, which has shortened our response and processing speed by an average of three to five times compared to before."
The city's domestically developed fleet of drones is playing a crucial role in monitoring low-altitude airspace, from 120m to 300m above the ground. Each airspace area is divided into separate sections and assigned a unique identification code.
Ms. Shijing, a data officer in Zhangwan County, said: "We have deployed 83 drone patrol routes. More than 100 patrol missions can be completed in a single day."
Different regions across China are adopting different approaches to capitalizing on the advantages offered by the low-income economy .
The Hangzhou Technology Center in eastern Zhejiang province has emphasized the integration of low-altitude tourism with the digital economy, introducing experiential cultural tourism products from the air supported by a digital planning platform.
Meanwhile, Guangdong province in southern China is rapidly building numerous low-level application facilities to establish a multi-functional support network for smart logistics, air travel, and emergency response mechanisms.
Experts believe that these steps open up a promising future as more and more localities across the country explore the best ways to develop this sector to benefit their regions.
