Temporarily close 4 airports due to the impact of storm No. 10

(Chinhphu.vn) - Due to the impact of storm Bualoi (storm No. 10), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (Ministry of Construction) has just announced the suspension of receiving aircraft at the following airports: Dong Hoi, Tho Xuan, Phu Bai, and Da Nang.

Airports forecast to be in the area directly affected by storm No. 10 include: Tho Xuan, Vinh, and Dong Hoi airports.

Close 4 airports, on duty 24/7

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just directed relevant units in the aviation industry to proactively respond to storm No. 10 (storm Bualoi).

Accordingly, the airports forecast to be directly affected by storm No. 10 include Tho Xuan, Vinh, and Dong Hoi airports. Phu Bai International Airport in Da Nang is expected to be affected by early gusts of wind caused by the storm's circulation.

International airports: Noi Bai, Van Don, Cat Bi and Chu Lai Airport need to proactively update information and take precautions when the storm has unusual developments.

In response to the complicated developments of storm No. 10, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has directed the issuance of aviation information notices on the suspension of receiving aircraft at the following airports: Dong Hoi from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on September 28; Tho Xuan from 10:00 p.m. on September 28 to 7:00 a.m. on September 29; Phu Bai International Airport from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on September 28; Da Nang from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on September 28.

To proactively respond to storm No. 10, ensure safety of flights, people and property at airports, and minimize negative impacts on flight operations, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also requires agencies and units to organize 24/7 duty; strictly implement storm and tropical depression response procedures in civil aviation activities.

For Van Don International Airport and airports under the Vietnam Airports Corporation in the area affected by storm No. 10, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests the presiding units to coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect the airport infrastructure system, communication system... to promptly detect and handle damages (if any) to ensure the safety of works, stations, and ensure the safety of operations at airports.

At the same time, deploy plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear the flow in airports, protect works, vehicles and equipment at airports, minimize damage caused by rain and storms and quickly stabilize all aviation activities to serve the needs of passengers.

At airports where construction is underway, the Civil Aviation Authority requests investors to request contractors to immediately implement storm response measures; identify technical stopping points to stop construction according to the storm's developments; prepare conditions to promptly fix construction incidents, ensure safety, and limit damage caused by storms. In addition, arrange 24/7 duty, proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans.

The agency also noted that units after the storm weakened and made landfall were at risk of causing post-storm rain.

Continuously update weather warnings, plan to adjust flight schedules

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) is required to direct aviation meteorological service providers to strengthen the work of ensuring the quality of meteorological information; continuously monitor weather conditions in the area of ​​responsibility, update forecasts and warnings; and provide timely and complete monitoring, forecasting and warning information to users.

Airlines and flight safety service providers need to strengthen coordination; closely monitor the developments of storm No. 10 to have plans to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly and ensure flight safety.

In addition, fully update meteorological information from relevant aviation meteorological facilities and base on the actual situation to deploy necessary response actions, minimize impacts on operations, ensure flight safety, protect people and property of the unit from natural disasters.

The Northern and Central Airport Authorities are assigned by the Civil Aviation Authority to supervise the implementation of response measures at relevant airports; ensure smooth communication with the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and relevant agencies and units within their scope of responsibility to deploy response in all situations.

According to information from Vietnam Airlines , on September 28, flight VN1597 from Hanoi to Dong Hoi and flight VN1404 from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Hoi had their take-off times adjusted to be earlier, both at 5:30 a.m. on the same day.

Flight VN1590 from Dong Hoi to Hanoi will take off at 7:10 a.m. the same day; flight VN1405 from Dong Hoi to Ho Chi Minh City will take off at 7:45 a.m. the same day.

On the same day, September 28, flight VN7270 from Ho Chi Minh City to Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa) had its take-off time adjusted to 7:00 a.m. and flight VN7271 from Tho Xuan to Ho Chi Minh City had its take-off time adjusted to 9:25 a.m. on the same day.

Additionally, on September 28, Vietnam Airlines will cancel flights to and from Phu Bai Airport (Hue). The airline will also temporarily suspend flights to and from Da Nang International Airport until 12:00 on September 28.

During this same period, a number of other domestic and international flights may be affected by the storm's impact.

Vietnam Airlines Group recommends that passengers fasten their seat belts throughout the flight, especially in complex weather conditions. Actively fastening seat belts, even when the signal light is off, is an important measure to help minimize risks when the plane encounters air turbulence.
