(BLC) – To help the people in the district have a healthy living environment and good health to work and study, Tam Duong district has been implementing solutions to protect the environment. Thereby, people raise awareness, take practical actions to protect the living environment, promote socio-economic development of the locality.
According to the assessment of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (TN&MT) of Tam Duong district, up to the present time, there is no industrial park in the area; industrial production activities have only 2 quarries used as common building materials; service activities on a small scale, mainly providing necessities for people's daily activities. Therefore, the environment in the district has not been affected much by the development of industry, services and the process of urbanization.
Currently, the risk of environmental pollution is mainly from agricultural activities such as: waste from livestock production, packaging of pesticides after use, domestic waste of people in the district and construction works.
The reason is due to the customs and practices of a part of ethnic minorities in raising livestock in the direction of grazing cattle and poultry as well as burning straw after each harvest; Funding sources have not been arranged to collect and treat post-use plant protection drug packages to ensure regulations on environmental protection, and to build hygienic waste landfills in communes. This is one of the main causes of pollution in residential areas and villages in the district, affecting the landscape and quality of life of people.

Talking to us, comrade Dao Thi Huong - Deputy Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tam Duong district said: "Facing these challenges, the district has been implementing solutions on environmental protection, namely strengthening propaganda and mobilizing people to raise awareness of environmental protection through news, articles, leaflets, propaganda posters in response to major world holidays such as June 5, World Cleaner Day, and World Cleaner Day.
At the same time, through the activities of the cell, the meetings of the village, etc., people have been propagated to protect the environment by taking specific actions. The organization of environmental cleaning, unblocking sewers, collection and treatment of garbage has been implemented in 13/13 communes and townships. The People's Committees of communes and towns have deployed the people in the villages to clean up, collect garbage, clear the bushes, etc. Since then, gradually raise the people's awareness about environmental protection work.
Actively protecting the environment, over the past time, the district has well implemented criterion No. 17 in the National Target Program on New Rural Development (NTM), directing specialized agencies to strengthen guidance and inspect the implementation of Criterion 17; direct the People's Committees of communes to implement each criterion of the criteria.
Along with that, strengthening propaganda and mobilizing people to step by step raise awareness about environmental protection, join hands with local authorities to build new rural areas. At the same time, allocating capital to implement criterion 17 such as: supporting people to build livestock barns, build hygienic latrines, deploy models of collection, classification and treatment of domestic waste... By May 5, in Tam Duong district, there are 2023 communes meeting new rural standards, 8 communes meeting criteria 10 on environment and food safety.
Every year to respond to World Environment Day on June 5, agencies, departments, branches, district unions and People's Committees of communes and towns come out to clean up the environment, clear bushes, clear sewers as well as plant trees at the office premises or along the roads of the villages. Some typical units such as: District Education and Training Department, Tam Duong District Youth Union, villages: Lao Chai 6 (Khun Ha commune), Chu Va village 1 (Son Binh commune), Si Thau Chai (Ho Thau commune).
Union members, youth, people of Khun Ha commune (Tam Duong district) clean and sanitize the internal roads, creating a green - clean - beautiful environment.
Comrade Nguyen Duy Cuong - Deputy Secretary of Tam Duong District Youth Union said: "In order to actively protect the environment, over the past time, the District Union has directed grassroots delegations throughout the district to clean village roads and alleys, plant trees, and plant flowers on roads. At the same time, the District Youth Union supported construction materials for the people of the communes: Ta Leng, Na Tam, etc. to build barns far away from houses, build hygienic latrines, etc. In particular, to respond to World Environment Day June 5, 6% of grassroots delegations in the whole district simultaneously organized a Green Sunday (May 100) with many meaningful activities such as: cleaning the environment, collecting waste at villages and units, and collecting waste in villages. take care of trees, flower gardens… Thereby, helping union members, youth and people raise awareness of environmental protection, helping to make the living environment more clean and fresh”.
