The soldiers' hearts

The floods have subsided, and the sun is shining, but the officers and soldiers of the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command remain in the flood-stricken area of Hoa Thinh, wholeheartedly supporting the people and local authorities with the spirit of "going first, returning last".

The recent flood tore apart the walls of Mr. Luong Van Nghia's house (Phu Phong village), causing the roof tiles to collapse and many belongings to be swept away. Officers and soldiers of Regiment 888, Provincial Military Command, are working urgently with the family to rebuild the roof, reinforce dangerous areas, and clean up the entire living area.

With his clothes stained with mud, soldier Nguyen Xuan Phat (Battalion 85, Regiment 888) worked through lunchtime, only managing to quickly eat a biscuit and drink a bottle of water. Phat shared: “Seeing the villagers' homes destroyed and left homeless, everyone felt sorry for them. Therefore, without being told, we all actively raced against time to repair their houses as quickly as possible, helping the families stabilize their lives as soon as possible.”

Officers and soldiers of Regiment 584 (Provincial Military Command) are also actively cleaning and rearranging belongings in the house of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quy (86 years old, My Trung village). Mr. Quy is a disabled veteran (category 2/4), who previously worked at the Tuy Hoa 1 District Military Command, Phu Yen province (formerly). With the changing weather and the polluted environment after the flood, the wound from the shrapnel still lodged deep in his cheek has flared up again. Despite the pain, he still perseveres and helps the soldiers clean up his house after the flood.

The family of Ms. Le Thi Anh (Phu Phong village) is in a very tragic situation; her elderly mother was tragically crushed to death when a wall collapsed on her. Touched by the assistance from the officers and soldiers of Regiment 584 in cleaning up, she shared: “In the past few days, with the loss of a family member, the grief has been overwhelming, and our house is in ruins. If it weren't for the soldiers' help, my family wouldn't know how to cope.”

Visiting families of war veterans and those receiving preferential treatment in the villages of Hoa Thinh commune, Colonel Le Van Hung, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command, shared: The Provincial Military Command is still working alongside units of the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 5 to support the people; resolutely implementing tasks to help the people, doing everything possible to alleviate their hardships and poverty. Only when the people are safe and secure can the soldiers rest easy.
