According to Masan Group CEO Danny Le, Vietnam possesses important foundations to become an attractive destination for global technology capital flows, including abundant human resources, strong innovation spirit and sustainable economic growth. In that context, he commented: "This is a favorable time for Vietnam to attract new capital flows, especially investment capital for digital transformation."

However, he also emphasized that implementing a digital strategy at scale requires a suitable financial environment including reasonable capital costs, stable interest rates and more accessible prices for new technologies. For businesses like Masan, a key factor in realizing digital transformation is a solid financial foundation and high-quality capital flows.

Since its listing in 2009, Masan has raised nearly $5 billion from global financial institutions such as KKR, TPG, Bain Capital, and Alibaba. Masan does not use this capital to pursue short-term growth, but focuses on targeted allocation, investing in core technology, automating the supply chain, expanding the distribution system, and restructuring after M&A.

As a result, Masan has created an integrated ecosystem that operates efficiently and is capable of scaling, thereby creating a solid financial foundation for the next phase of growth. With a clear technological vision and practical implementation experience, Masan is becoming one of the potential domestic enterprises to take the lead in the wave of global technology capital in the next decade.

Owning an end-to-end supply chain is a competitive advantage

At the event, answering the question about Masan's development in the retail sector, Mr. Danny Le said that the future of this industry does not only lie in the ability to expand points of sale, but also depends on building and mastering an end-to-end supply chain integrated with technology. To optimize operational efficiency, businesses need to invest not only in physical infrastructure, but especially digital infrastructure including AI, machine learning and customer data platforms.

“Building an end-to-end supply chain offers great opportunities, but at the same time requires thorough investment in technology platforms, from AI to data, to bring all services to the digital platform,” Masan's CEO emphasized.

Currently, Masan is one of the Vietnamese enterprises that owns a complete end-to-end consumer and retail supply chain. The enterprise is gradually realizing its strategy of becoming the leading consumer and retail platform in the region. From planning, production, logistics to multi-channel distribution, the entire product journey is strictly controlled by Masan, the core factor that creates sustainable growth and outstanding profit margins.

Masan actively produces through its member companies such as Masan Consumer, Masan MEATLife, WinEco and integrates financial products and services with Techcombank . Operations and logistics are handled by internal logistics company Supra, helping to optimize inventory, automatically replenish goods and increase market coverage. In particular, with a modern retail network of more than 4,000 stores, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN supermarkets, GT systems and e-commerce. At the final consumer touch point is the WiN membership program with the potential to help Masan directly reach 30-50 million Vietnamese consumers.

Unlike many businesses that only play the role of a retailer or manufacturer, Masan is also a "bridge" between the two ends of the chain, thereby creating a unique advantage to optimize profit margins, manage consumer data and achieve sustainable growth.

Mr. Danny Le also shared the strategic partnership between Masan and Techcombank. The two sides are jointly implementing an agent banking model, allowing consumers to perform basic financial services at Masan's retail system, thereby providing access to modern and flexible financial solutions for millions of consumers.

After a period of restructuring and building a comprehensive end-to-end supply chain, Masan has brought about positive results: WinCommerce recorded positive profits for the first time in 2024 after restructuring; Masan Consumer continued to maintain high profit margins; Masan MEATLife generated profits for three consecutive quarters, doubling sales at the WinMart system. Overall, Masan's after-tax profit for the year reached nearly VND2,000 billion, a 4-fold increase over the same period. The company also expects its profit in the second quarter of 2025 to continue to be positive with NPAT Pre-MI (profit before distribution to minority shareholders) estimated at about VND1,500 billion, an increase of nearly 60% over the same period last year.

With its practical implementation capabilities, strong financial foundation and proven end-to-end supply chain, Masan is in a favorable position to take the lead in the digital transformation wave, the potential to attract foreign capital and be one of the market leaders in the new era.
