Currently, the Lang Ward Military Command's workplace is only a temporary base, awaiting relocation to a new headquarters. Therefore, all professional activities of the unit take place in a small room. The heavy workload and staff shortage mean that each person has to handle multiple tasks. To ensure work progress, almost everyone has to work overtime.

Major Tran Van Hoan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Lang Ward Military Command, affirmed: "The biggest pressure is not the lack of material facilities or unstable working conditions, but how to ensure that the morale of our comrades is not 'temporarily' affected by their living situation. We take discipline as our strength and the results of our mission as our measure."
Observing the work of the officers and staff of the Lang Ward Military Command, we better understood the Deputy Political Commissar's perspective. Upon taking up their duties at the grassroots level, directly working and interacting with the people daily, their working methods had to change, becoming more flexible, and they had to take on the roles of propagandists and genuine community outreach officers. At the Lang Ward Military Command, this pressure is even greater because the newly merged area has a high population density and a high level of education. Facing people's questions about backlog policy documents after the merger, or the concerns of parents and students when going through military recruitment procedures, the unit's officers and staff always greet with a smile and maintain a people-centered, approachable demeanor. Meticulously guiding people through recruitment regulations or carefully reviewing and cross-referencing documents to resolve benefits for veterans are specific daily tasks for the unit's officers and staff. Patience, a scientific work style, and a dedicated attitude towards work have earned the trust of the local Party committee, government, and people.
According to Major Tran Van Hoan, after the restructuring of the commune-level military command according to the two-tiered local government model, although smaller in scale, the functions and tasks of the commune-level military command are not much different from those of the district level before. Therefore, officers and staff assigned to the position clearly understand their responsibilities. Although working conditions and equipment are not yet fully standardized and still have many shortcomings and inconveniences, with a proactive and creative spirit, from the commanders to the militia soldiers, everyone strives to do their best and successfully complete their assigned tasks.
For example, Captain Nguyen Van Anh, a non-commissioned officer, is assigned as a clerical and IT staff member, but he also handles public relations, explaining regulations and policies to citizens, a role he excelled at previously. He confided: "The unit has recently been restructured, living conditions are not yet fully developed, and the workload is heavy, posing challenges for us. However, with a clear understanding of the situation, we always encourage each other to work together and strive to perform our duties well."
Due to the characteristics of Lang Ward as a central, densely populated ward, training grounds and practice areas are scarce. Necessity is the mother of invention, and the unit has come up with the innovative idea of "on-site training and real-world exercises." Instead of going to distant training grounds, the militia forces, in coordination with the police, organize drills on apprehending criminals and conducting rescue operations right at traffic and fire hazard spots in the area. This approach helps militia soldiers become familiar with the terrain and proficient in handling real-life situations.
Besides its professional duties, the Lang Ward Military Command actively participates in and achieves high results in various emulation movements. Notably, at the public speaking competition of Emulation Bloc No. 6 ( Hanoi Capital Command), the unit excelled, surpassing seven other wards to win first prize. The Lang Ward Military Command is also a reliable support for the local people. Through social media platforms such as "Square Star Soldiers of Hanoi Capital" and "I love the Lang Ward Military Command," the unit promotes legal awareness and builds an image of a friendly and approachable soldier of Hanoi.
