During his meeting with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his pleasure at the positive developments in bilateral relations in many areas; and proposed that both sides promote exchanges of high-level and other delegations.
Minister Bui Thanh Son requested the British Government to continue supporting Vietnam financially, technologically, and in capacity building within the framework of the Partnership for a Just Energy Transition, contributing to the fulfillment of Vietnam's strong commitments at COP26; and to coordinate and support Vietnam in successfully assuming the role of Co-Chair of the OECD's Southeast Asia Programme, which prioritizes promoting economic recovery, supporting economic reforms, and helping Southeast Asian countries move closer to OECD standards.
Agreeing with Minister Bui Thanh Son's proposals, Minister James Cleverly emphasized the importance of Vietnam's increasingly significant role in the region; highly appreciated Vietnam's economic development achievements, considering it a potential market for British investment; and affirmed that the UK wishes to further deepen its cooperative relationship with Vietnam, especially in the fields of security and defense, green economy, and renewable energy.
Against the backdrop of the two countries celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations, the two ministers agreed on the need to develop measures to further promote cooperation in all fields, deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, making it more effective and substantive, serving the goal of sustainable development and effectively responding to regional and global challenges.
Both sides also affirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation and mutual support in international organizations and multilateral forums, including cooperation within the OECD framework.

During a brief meeting with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, the two ministers highly appreciated the positive developments in relations between the two countries in recent years and agreed to continue to coordinate closely to promote exchanges of delegations, high-level and other contacts; maintain the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the Political Consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and continue to support each other in multilateral forums and international organizations.
