Officers and soldiers of the Training - Mobile Battalion take care of the vegetable garden |
Typical units
A typical example of the city's Border Guard force in implementing production activities well is the Training - Mobile Battalion. To create a source of clean green vegetables, ensure food hygiene and safety in every meal, and ensure the health of officers and soldiers, especially new soldiers during training, the unit always has thousands of chickens and ducks; tons of pigs ready. The large-scale garden is always green, with vegetables for each season, from water spinach, potatoes, cabbage, Malabar spinach, amaranth to green beans, various types of squash, pumpkins, etc. The unit contracts with organic rice suppliers and mills itself to ensure new, quality rice.
Arriving at the Training - Mobile Battalion in the afternoons, when the officers and soldiers have finished a day of studying, training, and coaching, they always "encounter" a very exciting atmosphere and spirit of increasing production. Each group of new soldiers and the men and boys in the unit happily dig the soil, catch worms, pull weeds, water the vegetable garden; take care of the pigs, chickens, and ducks. The new soldiers may be "clueless" at first, but with careful guidance, in a short time, everyone has mastered the job.
According to Major Nguyen Tuan Tai, increasing production is identified as an important task, not only to ensure a clean and abundant food source for the unit, but also through this movement to train the health, skills, awareness, and love of work for officers and soldiers, especially new soldiers. More importantly, to foster the spirit of comradeship, solidarity, helping each other to progress, ready to meet all challenges when receiving tasks on the two borders.
At Huong Nguyen Border Post (stationed in A Luoi district), the movement of increasing production, raising livestock, and doing business has been promoted for many years to improve meals for soldiers. Accordingly, the unit has implemented "5 gardens, 3 trellises" and developed herds of cows, goats, pigs, and fish ponds very effectively. On average, each year, nearly 4,000 kg of green vegetables and fruits are harvested; more than 2,000 kg of various types of meat.
Support breeding for people
Lieutenant Colonel Le Hong Tuyen, Political Commissar of the Border Guard, highly appreciated the effectiveness of the production increase work of Huong Nguyen Border Guard Station. This is a unit located far from residential areas, on steep mountain passes, often affected by landslides during storm and flood season, and sometimes isolated due to severe landslides. In this situation, the unit still ensures green vegetables and food from the unit's production sources; ensuring the health of officers and soldiers to perform all tasks well.
From the unit's goat herd and fish pond, over the years, Huong Nguyen Border Guard Station has supported breeding goats for dozens of poor households in the area under its management; coordinated with other units to support the "Military-Civilian Fish Pond" model, accompanying people in border areas to develop the economy; improve material and spiritual life; build and foster military-civilian solidarity, join hands to preserve and protect the peace of the border.
Hong Van Border Guard Station (stationed in A Luoi district), Thuan An Port Border Guard Station (stationed in the city) and many other units, from their production increase movement, have "spread" to the community; supporting local people with models of breeding ducks and breeding ducks and care techniques, bringing practical results.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Le Hong Tuyen, in studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh , each collective and individual of border guards always determines to be strong to protect the Fatherland and firmly protect the border; therefore, promoting the movement to increase production effectively is one of the important measures. The results from the increased production of the units annually ensure more than 88% of the source of green vegetables, more than 50% of the main food source to serve the kitchens of the units. |
