On the afternoon of January 19, the Hanoi People's Committee held a regular press conference to inform about the city's socio -economic situation in January 2024.

At the conference, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment Le Trung Hieu said that in order to ensure leadership and direction in organizing services for the people to welcome the New Year and Spring happily, healthily, safely and economically with the motto "everyone, every family has Tet", the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee assigned departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns to proactively coordinate with the City's associations and unions to organize activities to serve Tet in the area.

Carefully organize Tet subsidy regime for social policy beneficiaries and visit and give gifts to meritorious people, policy families, ethnic minorities, remote areas and difficult places.

Coordinate with social organizations to mobilize businesses and people in the area to promote the spirit of mutual love, mutual assistance, and voluntary assistance to poor families, homeless elderly people, orphans, and homeless people so that everyone, every family can celebrate the traditional New Year of the nation in a joyful and warm atmosphere. Propaganda and mobilize people in the area to celebrate the New Year joyfully, healthily, economically, and safely.

At the same time, ensure political security, social order and safety, proactively handle "outstanding" pressing issues of people's livelihood; effectively ensure urban order, traffic order and safety and maintain environmental sanitation; mobilize, propagate and fight against activities that take advantage of superstition for personal gain, gambling, drugs, prostitution and other social evils.

Timely prevent all acts of causing disturbances and disrupting public order and security… Ensure market stability for essential goods; prepare well the forces and means of transporting passengers and goods during Tet.

According to Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment Le Trung Hieu, despite many difficulties and challenges, with the close and drastic direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the efforts of businesses and all the people of the capital, the socio-economic situation has maintained development and basically completed the general target for 2023; growth of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is 1.24 times higher than the whole country; budget revenue exceeds 16.4% of the estimate; completing 18/23 main socio-economic targets/groups, of which 5 targets exceeded the plan.

"Budget revenue exceeded the estimate, ensuring expenditure balance. Total state budget revenue in the area: 410,624 billion VND, reaching 116.4% of the estimate, up 23.0% compared to 2022. Total capital mobilized by credit institutions in the area: 5,181 trillion VND, up 4.4%. Inflation was controlled, the average price index increased by 2.04%, lower than the whole country (3.25%), reaching the set target of below 4.5%", Mr. Hieu emphasized.

In addition, the City's tourism has strongly recovered; the total number of tourists reached 24 million, up 27%; of which: 4 million international visitors (2.82 million overnight guests), up 138.1% and 20 million domestic visitors, up 16%.

Social investment capital reached 506,214 billion VND, up 9.3%. Foreign investment attraction reached 2,943 million USD, up 65.9%. Newly registered enterprises: 31,660 enterprises (up 7.1%) with registered capital of 353,974 billion VND (up 7%). 8,575 enterprises resumed operations (down 2%); 3,760 enterprises dissolved (up 4%), 19,894 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend operations (up 22%).

The city actively implemented the Investment Plan in the three fields of education, healthcare, and restoration and embellishment of relics; by the end of 2023, 1,005 projects were completed (382 City-level projects; 623 district-level projects).

Ensuring social security, poverty reduction and job creation are focused on. Implementing policies for meritorious people and taking care of policy beneficiaries. Social security support and job creation are promoted; Jobs have been created for 200,280 workers, reaching 115% of the plan.

In the coming time, Hanoi will continue to seriously and effectively implement the theme "Discipline, responsibility, action, creativity, development", focusing on strengthening discipline and responsibility in handling work according to Directive No. 24-CT/TU dated August 7, 2023 of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee; Perfecting and arranging the apparatus and administrative units to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently.

Completing the Draft Law on the Capital (amended) to submit to the National Assembly for approval; Hanoi Capital Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; Adjusting the Hanoi Capital Master Plan to 2045, with a vision to 2065. Preparation work for the documents of the 18th City Party Congress and Party Congresses at all levels for the term 2025-2030.

In addition, Hanoi will focus on the progress of implementation and disbursement of public investment capital from the beginning of the year, especially key projects, national target programs, and the Ring Road 4 - Capital Region Investment Project.
