The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere, filled with the warmth of compatriots, with the full participation of all officers and staff of the Consulate General and neighboring agencies.
The collective of cadres, party members, civil servants and public employees of the Consulate General agreed to contribute one day's salary to share difficulties with compatriots in the country, demonstrating the spirit of "mutual love" and "helping each other" of Vietnamese people even though they are living and working far from the Fatherland.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan expressed: “In recent days, the images of our compatriots in the Central and Northern regions struggling to cope with storms, flash floods and landslides have moved each of us. Although we are half a world away from our homeland, the staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco always turn to our compatriots, sharing a small part of their responsibility and affection to help our compatriots overcome the consequences and soon stabilize their lives."
The Consul General emphasized that the spirit of solidarity and humanity is the source of strength of the Vietnamese people. Every act of sharing, no matter how small, has great meaning when done with sincerity. He called on all officers and staff of the representative agency, along with the Vietnamese community in the West Coast of the United States, to continue spreading the spirit of humanity, joining hands towards the homeland, to contribute to alleviating loss, and to arouse faith and determination in the heart of the storm.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, all officers and staff of the Consulate General directly contributed to support, with a spirit of volunteerism and urgency. The entire amount of donations will be sent to the official account of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , to promptly deliver to the people in the flood-affected areas by the two storms Bualoi and Matmo.
Storms Bualoi and Matmo, which consecutively hit the Central and Northern regions in early October, caused prolonged heavy rains, causing deep flooding and serious landslides in many areas, damaging thousands of houses, cutting off many traffic routes, and disrupting people's lives.
In that context, the spirit of solidarity of Vietnamese people at home and abroad becomes a valuable spiritual support to help people in disaster areas overcome difficulties.
At the end of the ceremony, Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed: “The launch of the one-day salary donation today is not only a gesture of material support, but also demonstrates the responsibility and affection of each Vietnamese diplomatic officer abroad towards the Fatherland. We believe that, together with the efforts of the Government and people nationwide, the joint efforts of the overseas Vietnamese community will contribute to helping localities soon restore production, stabilize life and heal losses after natural disasters."
The fundraising event ended in a united, warm and emotional atmosphere - a testament to the deep affection of the staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco for their homeland and country and the belief that in difficult times, the love of the Vietnamese people will always shine.
