In late July and early August, heavy rains, flash floods, and serious landslides occurred in many communes in the highlands of Dien Bien province. A series of schools were damaged, and teaching equipment and belongings of boarding students were swept away by the flood.
Many schools in Ha Tinh were also severely damaged after storm No. 5.
On September 4, the Minister of Education and Training issued an official dispatch requesting the directors of the Departments of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces to focus on reviewing educational institutions that have not yet completed the repair of damage to facilities and teaching equipment caused by the storm; continue to mobilize all resources, ensure safety, and ensure sufficient conditions for organizing the opening ceremony of the new school year 2025-2026 for students. Along with that, prepare basic learning conditions for students, so that students do not lack schools, classes, teachers, books, and learning materials.
