Thuan An Group withdraws from Khanh Hoa expressway project

On the afternoon of July 10, at the press conference on the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2024 of Khanh Hoa province, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee, said that Thuan An Group asked not to participate in the consortium of contractors to implement the bidding package at the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway construction investment project, phase 1.

Previously, in this project, Thuan An Group was the leader in a consortium of four contractors participating in the construction of bidding package No. 2 of component project 1, belonging to the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project. Up to now, this bidding package has not been constructed due to land clearance problems.

After the leaders of Thuan An Group were prosecuted and temporarily detained, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province directed the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (a unit authorized by the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province to be the investor) to work with representatives of this group to determine whether to continue participating in the project construction.

"Recently, Thuan An Group has requested the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee not to participate in the joint venture to implement the bidding package. The provincial People's Committee has assigned the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board and related units to find the next solution. The Khanh Hoa Provincial leaders will meet to find solutions, arrange and handle the situation to soon implement the bidding package related to the joint venture of Thuan An Group to ensure the project's progress as set out," said Mr. Ha.

Taking advantage of the available space, Son Hai contractor rushed to construct the roadbed before the rainy season.

It is known that construction package No. 2 of component project 1, belonging to the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project, was assigned to a consortium of four contractors including: Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company, Phuong Nam Construction and Mechanical Joint Stock Company, Bac Trung Nam Infrastructure Construction Joint Stock Company, and 168 Vietnam Construction Group Joint Stock Company.

The total value of the package is over VND2,000 billion. The contract is divided equally among the four members of the consortium, with each member taking on an average of 25% of the workload.

Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway is 117.5km long, with a total investment of nearly VND22,000 billion. The project's first phase has four lanes and will start construction in June 2023.

The project is divided into three component projects. The People's Committees of Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces are the investors of component projects 1 and 3. The Ministry of Transport is the managing agency of component project 2.
