Thuan An Group requests to withdraw from the Khanh Hoa expressway project.

On the afternoon of July 10th, at a press conference on the socio -economic situation of Khanh Hoa province in the first six months of 2024, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Chief of the Provincial People's Committee Office, stated that Thuan An Group has requested not to participate in the consortium of contractors for the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway construction project, phase 1.

Previously, in this project, Thuan An Group was the leading consortium of four contractors participating in the construction of package 2 of component 1, part of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project. To date, this package has not yet commenced construction due to land acquisition issues.

Following the indictment and temporary detention of the leaders of Thuan An Group, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province directed the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Projects (the unit authorized by the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province to act as the investor) to work with representatives of the group to determine whether they would continue to participate in the project's construction.

"Recently, Thuan An Group requested the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee not to participate in the consortium of contractors for the project. The Provincial People's Committee leaders have assigned the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Projects and related units to find a way to handle the situation. The Khanh Hoa Provincial leaders will hold a meeting to find a solution, arrange, and resolve the issue so that the project related to Thuan An Group's consortium can be implemented soon to ensure the project's progress," Mr. Ha said.

Taking advantage of the available land, Son Hai contractor is rushing to construct the road foundation before the rainy season.

It is known that Package 2 of the construction project, component 1 of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project, was awarded to a consortium of four contractors: Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company, Phuong Nam Construction and Mechanical Joint Stock Company, Bac Trung Nam Infrastructure Construction Joint Stock Company, and Vietnam Construction Group 168 Joint Stock Company.

The contract is worth over 2 trillion VND. The contract is divided equally among the four members of the consortium, with each member undertaking an average of 25% of the work.

The Khanh Hoa - Buon Me Thuot expressway is 117.5km long, with a total investment of nearly 22,000 billion VND. Phase 1 of the project, with four lanes, commenced in June 2023.

The project is divided into three sub-projects. The People's Committees of Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces are the investors for sub-projects 1 and 3, respectively . The Ministry of Transport is the managing agency for sub-project 2.
