Ten Hag is a doubt at Leverkusen

Erik ten Hag is under great pressure after just the first round of the new Bundesliga season, when his signature tactical touch almost disappeared in the 1-2 defeat to Hoffenheim on August 23.

German media unanimously reported that Leverkusen's leadership began to show concern over the team's lackluster performance and lack of clarity in playing style under Ten Hag.

Ten Hag’s core principles, such as pressing and counter-attacking, were largely absent. It wasn’t just his on-field issues that drew criticism, either, as his preparation and pre-match speeches were. In contrast, his predecessor Xabi Alonso had excelled in these areas.

In addition, controversial tactical decisions have added to the pressure on Ten Hag. Moving new signing Aleix Garcia from his usual central position to the right wing has been seen as reducing the squad's strength and not making the most of the player's abilities.
