Officers of the Economic Department of Son Luong commune visited the area of ​​1 hectare of Ga Gay sticky rice restoration.

Ms. Dinh Thi Thuy Huong, Head of the Economic Department of Son Luong Commune, said: To successfully restore the Ga Gay My Lung sticky rice variety, close coordination between levels, sectors and people is needed. Collect remaining rice samples, evaluate the quality and select the best individuals as a source of seeds. Use scientific methods to crossbreed and select to eliminate unwanted genes, consolidate good characteristics, increase resistance to pests and diseases and improve productivity. In May, the commune organized a pilot production model with a planting area of ​​1 sao, which will be harvested in October. Up to this point, the planted rice area has grown well and is less affected by pests and diseases. To avoid hybridization of rice varieties, people have to do many steps such as: 1st decontamination when the rice is green, removing plants of different varieties; 2nd decontamination when the rice is standing, forming panicles, removing plants of different varieties and forms; The third decontamination when the rice is thrown horizontally, then remove plants of different varieties, different types of rice, different types of rice flowers... When successfully restored, Ga Gay My Lung sticky rice will become a typical, unique agricultural product of Phu Tho. Building a brand and geographical indication for this product can help increase economic value, bringing stable income to local people.

In the coming time, to ensure the quality and safety of the construction of Ga Gay My Lung sticky rice growing areas, local authorities need to have policies to support farmers in terms of seeds, techniques, capital and build brand promotion programs for the products, helping the products reach a wider market.
