A video recorded by a local resident and posted on social media shows the rocket stage wobbling before bursting into flames and crashing to the ground, just about 50 seconds after launch.

Space Pioneer is conducting tests in preparation for launching the Tianlong-3 into orbit. The company's partially reusable rocket is compared to SpaceX's Falcon 9. Previously, Space Pioneer announced it had raised an additional $207 million in funding.

The Paper newspaper in Shanghai, citing officials from Henan, reported that the incident caused no casualties. According to a statement from Space Pioneer, a structural failure in the connection between the two components caused the explosion.
