According to the National Center for Hydrometeorology, intense heat will continue to blanket Northern and Central Vietnam this week, before cooling thunderstorms appear from around Friday, May 29th.
Hanoi is forecast to maintain a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days.
Today, the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang city and the eastern part of Quang Ngai province will experience intense and exceptionally severe heat, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in some places, due to the strong influence of the Foehn wind effect. The forecast temperature has already reached over 40 degrees Celsius, and the perceived temperature could reach 45 degrees Celsius.
With the hottest weather concentrated from midday to early afternoon, people should limit prolonged outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and proactively take measures to prevent heatstroke.
While temperatures in the North and Central regions are unlikely to cool down anytime soon, many areas from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau may experience thunderstorms this evening, May 25th.
