Warmth of solidarity
This principle is not just a call to action, but is concretized through practical programs for near-poor households, people with particularly difficult circumstances, the elderly, people with disabilities, migrant workers, and other vulnerable groups.
In early February 2026, the "Spring of Compassion - Tet of Sharing" program, organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City in Thuong Tin commune, became a meaningful highlight. There, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, along with political and social organizations, presented 200 gift packages, totaling over 300 million VND, to elderly people, near-poor households, and disadvantaged union and association members.
Holding a Tet gift package along with a 300,000 VND shopping voucher, Mrs. Duong Thi Lieu (Team 1, Thuong Tin Commune) emotionally shared: “This gift not only has material value but also represents the sincere care of all levels and sectors. Thanks to this, Tet has become much warmer for us.” These simple words perfectly capture the feelings of thousands of people who have been given renewed joy on the eve of the new year.
The spirit of sharing during the spring season continues to spread through the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" program implemented by the Hanoi City Federation of Labor. From the city level to grassroots trade unions, industrial parks, and high-tech zones, activities to care for union members and workers are organized simultaneously and systematically.
This year, the entire Hanoi trade union system distributed approximately 83,000 gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances; provided 5,500 bus tickets for workers to return home for Tet, including 1,200 who received direct transportation. At the same time, delegations were promptly organized to visit and encourage workers who worked throughout Tet, further motivating them to remain committed to their companies.
In Dan Phuong commune, 455 gift packages were handed directly to workers. The locality also mobilized social resources to provide an additional 1,012 gift packages to students, workers, and particularly disadvantaged households, with a total cost of over 1 billion VND; and provided 25 bus tickets and 200 shopping vouchers to meet essential needs during Tet.
In Yen Hoa ward, the spirit of "Tet Reunion" was further emphasized when more than 1,200 people who contributed to the revolution and nearly 1,200 social welfare beneficiaries and elderly people received gifts. The "Spring of Compassion - Tet Reunion 2026" program alone distributed 680 gifts directly to poor households, union members, and disadvantaged children.
The specific figures and on-site visits demonstrate the proactive, decisive, and systematic approach to implementing social welfare policies at all levels and in all sectors throughout the city.
Everyone, every family celebrates Tet.
A highlight of the preparations for the Lunar New Year 2026 (Year of the Horse) was the consistent direction and coordinated organization from the city level to the grassroots. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City distributed 6,569 gift packages, totaling over 6.39 billion VND, focusing on near-poor households, households facing extreme difficulties, and vulnerable groups. Member organizations provided 673,309 gift packages, worth over 345 billion VND.
At the commune and ward level, 92,344 gifts have been distributed with a total cost of over 69 billion VND. To date, 100% of communes and wards in the city have organized Tet welfare programs in flexible forms, suitable to the practical situation of each area.
As of February 11, 2026, the Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations had allocated funds from the "For the Poor" Fund and mobilized social resources to distribute a total of 772,222 gifts, worth over 420.88 billion VND. Simultaneously, the city's health sector distributed 464,887 gifts to the elderly, people with disabilities, children in special circumstances, and other social welfare beneficiaries, with a total cost of over 213 billion VND, of which over 30 billion VND came from social contributions.
Notably, localities completed the payment of social allowances for February and March 2026 in a single phase, ensuring timely disbursement before Tet; and at the same time, fully implemented the benefits for 3,268 individuals being cared for at public social assistance facilities.
Bui Huyen Mai, Member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, affirmed that the resources mobilized for Tet (Lunar New Year) celebrations in 2026 have increased threefold compared to 2025, demonstrating the effective implementation of the directives of Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc regarding social welfare. This ensures that everyone and every family has a warm and joyful Tet, and people see the advantages of the two-tiered local government model. This result also vividly demonstrates the leading role of the Fatherland Front at all levels, spreading throughout society, connecting benevolent hearts, and working together to care for the material and spiritual lives of policy beneficiaries, all aiming to ensure that every citizen can celebrate Tet more fully and warmly.
The warm spring atmosphere in the capital city shows that what remains is not just the hundreds of billions of dong or hundreds of thousands of gifts, but the people's trust in the city's care. And so, the motto "leaving no one behind" has been concretized by Hanoi into practical and humane activities.
