On the morning of May 27, the Zoo held the opening ceremony of the festival "Celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival - Happy Children's Day", opening a series of summer activities for children, lasting until June 1.
At artisan Le Xuan Tung's clay figurine making booth, Nguyen Khoi (7 years old) patiently waited for a clay figurine shaped like soccer player Messi. This was the first time he had seen clay figurines made directly, so he was very excited. Khoi said: "I really like this handmade toy. The artisan sculpts the figurines very skillfully and beautifully."
Nearby, a coconut leaf grasshopper stall also attracted many students to come and experience. While listening attentively to the artisan’s instructions, Dinh Ha Van (16 years old) and her friends meticulously created the coconut leaf grasshopper.

Ha Van said she had seen artists performing the coconut leaf grasshopper stacking on social media sites, but this was the first time she had experienced it herself. "I find this activity very interesting, helping us learn more about the folk games associated with our parents' and grandparents' generations," Ha Van shared.
With more than 20 diverse booths imbued with traditional folk culture, the festival "Celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival - Happy Children's Day" hopes to bring a healthy playground to help children develop their skills, thinking and dexterity.
Besides the culinary area, the zoo focuses on opening up cultural experience spaces such as pottery making, rice paper making, rice cake making, leaf calligraphy...

This helps children stay away from their phones during the summer, giving them the opportunity to learn, feel and nurture their love for the traditional cultural identity of their nation.
The festival runs from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. After 5 p.m., admission is free.
