The Lantern Festival, also known as the Upper Yuan Festival (the Full Moon Festival of the First Lunar Month), is a traditional holiday of the Chinese community in Ho Chi Minh City, celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar month every year. This festival is considered the second most important after the Lunar New Year. The 2023 Lantern Festival of the Chinese community in Ho Chi Minh City saw the participation of a large number of people. This was also the first major cultural event organized by the city after the Lunar New Year.

The Lantern Festival, established over two thousand years ago, is still considered by the Chinese community as the end of the bustling Lunar New Year celebrations, as it marks the official start of the new year's work. When Chinese people migrate to new regions, they often bring with them a wealth of cultural heritage and unique festival traditions. After settling and establishing themselves in their new homeland, they skillfully blended the best aspects of traditional festivals with the local culture, giving these festivals a distinct identity. In 2024, the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest will continue to be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on the website. https://happy.vietnam.vn is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and above.
