Specifically, three sea turtles weighing approximately 1.5 kg, with shells about 25 cm long and 20 cm wide (commonly known as green turtles) were caught in a net and drifted at sea. They were discovered by fisherman Bui Dinh Thuy (residing in Hamlet 4, Cua Viet Commune) while fishing in the Con Co sea area on May 16th.
Recognizing the importance of these rare turtles, fisherman Bui Dinh Thuy carefully removed three sea turtles from his nets, brought them onto his boat, and transported them ashore, ensuring their safety before handing them over to the relevant authorities.
After a health check, all three sea turtles were released back into their natural habitat in the presence of authorities, locals, and tourists.
The green sea turtle is one of the endangered and rare wild sea turtle species, prioritized for protection, and listed in the Vietnam Red Book, the IUCN Red List, and Appendix I of the CITES Convention - Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Animals and Plants.
