A nightmare scenario awaits Tottenham and West Ham. |
According to The Sun 's calculations, Tottenham could lose nearly £250 million if they are relegated to the Championship. Although they would still receive around £45 million in support from the Premier League, Spurs would lose a huge source of revenue from television rights, the Champions League, and matchday earnings.
This season, the North London club earned a staggering £71.6 million from the Champions League, not including ticket and service revenue, placing them among the highest in Europe. If relegated, home revenue is projected to drop by nearly 40%.
On the other side of London, West Ham is also facing a serious crisis. The club announced a loss of over £104 million in its latest financial report and is expected to need to raise over £100 million from player sales if it fails to avoid relegation.

A host of big stars are at risk of leaving this summer. Tottenham are reportedly prepared to see a mass exodus of key players such as Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Richarlison.
Meanwhile, Jarrod Bowen has become the most likely player to leave West Ham. He has attracted interest from Chelsea and Newcastle United.
The future of the managers is also in serious doubt. Roberto De Zerbi has stated he will stay at Tottenham no matter what, but the pressure of the Championship could quickly change things. As for West Ham, Nuno Espirito Santo is likely to leave the club if they fail to avoid relegation.
Both Tottenham and West Ham are considered to have the potential to return to the Premier League soon. However, if the worst-case scenario occurs, financial shocks and a wave of departures could cause the two London clubs to take many years to fully recover.
