'Egg God' gains 4 million followers with just two comments

In an increasingly competitive social media environment, a Douyin (Chinese TikTok) account called "Eating Eggs" unexpectedly became a phenomenon, attracting over 4 million followers in just a few days.

While content creators were searching for complex "key codes" to attract traffic, a unique individual emerged on the Douyin platform in late 2025. This person amassed millions of followers simply by giving instructions on how to boil eggs.

The story began with a simple post from a user showing off a perfectly boiled egg made by their father. Amidst numerous compliments and common questions, the account "Egg God" offered what they claimed was the perfect recipe for boiling eggs. "This is the result of boiling eggs in boiling water for 9 minutes and 12 seconds and immediately submerging them in cold water," the "egg god" account wrote.

The fact that the time was given down to the second caused considerable skepticism. However, the account's subsequent response dispelled all doubts and turned the person into an internet sensation.

"Don't doubt it, I eat 40 boiled eggs every day, continuously for five years. When it comes to boiled eggs, I know every moment, every second," this person wrote.

The sheer confidence, coupled with the shocking claim of eating 40 eggs a day, sparked a flurry of comments. Netizens, with a "nothing to lose by trying" mentality, followed the recipe. As a result, numerous users successfully boiled perfectly runny, soft-boiled eggs, confirming the recipe's accuracy.

"The Egg God" quickly earned titles such as "The Egg-Boiling Immortal" and "The Master of Egg Yolk Control." He could even see images and accurately identify the reasons for other people's failures, from using too much heat to not soaking the eggs in cold water in time.

The rate of follower growth for this account is unprecedented. Based on just two comments and some replies, "Egg God" attracted millions of fans on the Douyin platform within three days, creating a community called "The Egg Army".

Driven by the encouragement and support of the community, this person officially uploaded their first tutorial video on December 4th. Since then, the account has experienced phenomenal growth, reaching 4 million followers in just 10 days, averaging over 400,000 new followers per day.

"Egg God's" content channel revolves entirely around eggs, specializing in providing practical and easy-to-apply tips and tricks. Featured videos include detailed comparisons of the state of boiled egg yolks at different times, precisely controlled using a stopwatch.

Besides the signature boiled egg dish, the content expands to many other egg recipes, such as Japanese-style rolled eggs (manga eggs), techniques for making fried eggs that don't fall apart, and steamed custard with a melt-in-your-mouth texture.

The level of interaction in the video comments remains consistently high, with many users actively sharing and submitting their finished products after following the instructions.

Douyin's vice president, Zhi Ying, also spoke out to deny the use of algorithms to "create idols." He asserted that the success of accounts like "Egg God" does not come from chasing trends or grand narratives, but from perseverance, meticulousness, and taking even the smallest details to a level of absolute mastery.
