The merger will help reduce the number of university education institutions (from 2 to 1), form a multidisciplinary university, increase the attractiveness to learners and international cooperation, and focus investment resources to increase the scale and quality of training.
Hong Duc University was established in 1997, on the basis of merging 3 schools, including: Thanh Hoa Pedagogical College, Thanh Hoa College of Economics and Technology, and Thanh Hoa Medical College. Merging vocational and continuing education centers into vocational high schools
For preschool and general education facilities in 16 border communes, build inter-level primary and secondary boarding schools on the basis of merging primary and secondary schools.
Merge schools and school sites within a commune-level administrative unit; prioritize retaining school sites with favorable conditions in terms of facilities, transportation, and concentrated population; dissolve separate school sites that do not meet minimum facility standards.
For 23 vocational education - continuing education centers, and 1 general technical - continuing education center, Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training proposed to merge and convert into 14 vocational high schools.
Regarding colleges, it is proposed to keep the Agricultural College and Medical College. In particular, Thanh Hoa Industrial College will merge with Nghi Son Vocational College to become Thanh Hoa Industrial College.
Regarding secondary schools, the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training proposed to maintain the Transport Vocational College, because this is an autonomous unit in regular and investment spending; proposed to allow the Mountainous Vocational College and the Tourism Trade Vocational College to develop a plan for autonomy in regular spending and maintain the status quo.
Merge Bim Son Vocational College and Thanh Hoa Vocational College of Technology into Thanh Hoa Industrial College (establish the northern branch at the current headquarters of Bim Son Vocational College).
Particularly, Thach Thanh Vocational College and Nga Son Vocational College proposed to convert into two vocational high schools.
Thus, according to the proposal of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa, in this province there are currently 38 universities, colleges, intermediate schools, and continuing education institutions. After the arrangement, there will be 24 institutions (a reduction of 14 institutions).
