Thanh Khe is developing its trade and service sector in the right direction.

The People's Committee of Thanh Khe District has set forth many tasks and solutions to develop trade and services; leading the development of the economy, in accordance with the potential and advantages of the locality.

According to statistics, the proportion of the trade and service sector has increased rapidly, from 47.8% in 2006 to 60.54% in 2015 and 90.73% in 2024 (the target set by the Resolution of the 12th District Party Congress for 2025 is for the trade and service sector to account for 86.15%). To achieve these results, the trade and service sector continues to be promoted with many stimulus and trade promotion programs; and with the active support of the government, the business community, and the people.

The District People's Committee is implementing the project "Developing the market network in Thanh Khe district for the period 2021-2025 and a vision to 2030"; implementing cashless payments; building and maintaining 4 specialized streets with 393 establishments; and approving the plan to build a fashion and food street on Phan Thanh Street.

The retail network is gradually being perfected with 22 supermarkets, 71 convenience stores, and 1,000 retail and grocery stores; one new market has been built, and five markets have been renovated. To date, 11 out of 12 markets have achieved the status of civilized commercial markets, and 6 out of 12 markets meet the criteria for food safety and hygiene; 100% of markets are self-sufficient in covering their operating expenses. The District People's Committee has supported 8 entities with 14 OCOP products that have been recognized and evaluated at 3rd and 4th star levels; and supported 6 entities in bringing 11 products to e-commerce platforms… aiming to access and expand markets through e-commerce, keeping up with the general trend, and creating new impetus for the development of the trade sector.

During the period 2025-2030, the district will continue to advise on reviewing, supplementing, and adjusting the planning of sub-areas to meet the needs of commercial and service development, markets, and specialized business zones, and accelerate the progress of investment in expanding and upgrading urban areas in conjunction with investment in commercial and service development.

Simultaneously, the plan aims to develop commercial centers such as: a specialized street for hotels and restaurants along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street to attract and develop tourism ; the area around Thac Gian - Vinh Trung Lake and Phan Lang 2 Canal, focusing on investing in architectural and landscape improvements, creating green spaces and public spaces, and developing a night market for food and fashion; turning 29/3 Park into an attractive tourist destination; a commercial and service center and pedestrian zone in the area of ​​the railway station after relocation; an urban area, commercial center, shopping mall, and duty-free shops in the gateway area of ​​Da Nang International Airport; and the formation of commercial centers and supermarkets associated with new urban redevelopment areas and stops and transfer points between different modes of public transport.

The District People's Committee proactively calls for investment in urban redevelopment projects in the area, diversifying forms of direct investment, joint ventures, partnerships, and cooperation to develop commercial infrastructure; expanding business activities of economic sectors through mobilized capital from domestic and foreign economic sectors and credit institutions.

In addition, the district encourages and supports household businesses to transition to enterprise and cooperative models; expands the scale and forms of investment, joint ventures, and linkages towards forming logistics service supply chains; and diversifies the supply chains of food, cuisine, OCOP products, rattan and bamboo products, and souvenirs in the district, linking them with tourism services.

In 2025, the District People's Committee will enhance the capacity and effectiveness of state management to support, attract, and improve the investment and business environment in trade and services. This includes new investments, upgrading and renovating markets, implementing a market socialization model; and organizing plans for arranging stalls, shops, and product categories in markets to ensure rationality and meet the standards of civilized commercial markets and food safety markets.

In addition, the plan includes developing night markets and specialized streets, attracting investment to establish them; creating focal points to attract residents and tourists for sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment; implementing the "Development of Trade and Services Project for the period 2022-2025" and the "Development of the Network of Markets in the District for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030" in 2025; supporting and creating favorable conditions for businesses and households to produce and conduct business; proactively implementing specific solutions for digital transformation in the economic sector; and focusing on supporting OCOP products to participate in e-commerce promotion.
