To welcome summer 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the National Political Publishing House is organizing a series of activities to promote reading culture for children with many meaningful and practical contents, contributing to spreading a love of books, cultivating knowledge, educating life skills, raising community awareness, and nurturing good values for the younger generation.

The series of activities includes: the Rainbow Knowledge Book Fair held at the headquarters at 72 Tran Quoc Thao Street, Xuan Hoa Ward; the Summer Book Fair at the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street; and the "Colors of Vietnam" painting competition.

The highlight of the program is the "Colors of Vietnam" painting competition for children under 15 years old.

The competition is a platform for children to express their love for their homeland, country, family, school, living environment, and childhood dreams through painting.

This activity also contributes to fostering creativity, cultivating positive emotions, a spirit of sharing, national pride, and love for one's homeland in children.

In addition, the program also introduces a new line of children's books recently published and distributed by the National Political Publishing House, along with many other outstanding books in the fields of history, culture, life skills education, popular science, and character development for children.

Among the books introduced to young children this time is "The History of Our Country" by President Ho Chi Minh, presented in the familiar and easy-to-remember six-eight verse form, vividly illustrated with pictures and printed illustrations for coloring.

This book helps children approach national history in a gentle and engaging way, thereby fostering patriotism, national pride, and an awareness of preserving the fine traditional values of their ancestors.

Through this series of activities for children, the organizers hope to provide them with a enriching experience during the summer, where books are not only a source of knowledge but also a companion that helps nurture their souls, build their character, and inspire positive change in the younger generation.

And above all, the National Political Publishing House wants to be a companion for children on their journey to develop a reading culture.

To promote a reading culture among children, Slowbooks has initiated the Vietnam Children's Picture Book Festival 2026.

The event marks the emergence of a specialized cultural and educational space dedicated to picture books in Vietnam.

One of the highlight activities of the festival is the exhibition "100 Vietnamese Picture Books to Love and Remember," aiming to look back on the 20-year development journey (2006-2026) of domestic picture books and honor works that have accompanied many generations of Vietnamese children.

The exhibition is being held at the City Book Street and the Ho Chi Minh City General Science Library.

At the Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theatre, the theatre's management organized a "School Stage Performance Skills Class" for students in the area.

The class will help students develop skills in confident public speaking, imagination, and especially the ability to adapt to the situations presented in the plays by the organizers.

The theater's goal is that after the course, the children will have their minds opened, helping them develop their acting talents, form a reading habit, acquire teamwork skills, and improve their vocal abilities.

According to Mr. Ha Quoc Cuong, Director of the City Drama Theater, organizing stage performance skills training in schools aims to introduce and popularize the art form of spoken drama to every citizen of Ho Chi Minh City.

This activity will create a healthy cultural and creative environment during the summer, helping children develop emotional intelligence, presentation skills, and teamwork through performances, contributing to nurturing artistic talent, and thereby contributing to achieving the city's target of providing free basic training in at least one art form to every citizen of Ho Chi Minh City.

It is understood that after the enrollment period ends (on May 30-31), the school stage performance skills class is scheduled to begin on June 15 and will conclude on July 31 with a performance presentation after 12 lessons.
