The first-ever "Thanh Sen Lantern Procession Mid-Autumn Festival" held in Ha Tinh City left a positive impression on both locals and tourists alike, showcasing a unique cultural tradition and providing an unforgettable experience for many.

According to statistics from the Department of Culture and Information of Ha Tinh City, over the two nights of the festival (September 23-24), the "Thanh Sen Mid-Autumn Lantern Procession" attracted approximately 9,000 participants. The festival was not only appealing to local residents but also attracted the interest of tourists.

The children eagerly carried lanterns during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Nguyen Hai Nam (Dong Mon commune, Ha Tinh city) expressed: “The lanterns look so huge and whimsical, so childlike. I really like them and hope the festival will continue to be held in the following years so that we can have more useful and interesting playgrounds during the Mid-Autumn Festival.”

Immersing himself in the festive atmosphere, Mr. Nguyen Chinh (Nam Ha Ward, Ha Tinh City) shared: "This is the first time a large-scale lantern procession festival has been organized in Ha Tinh City. I took advantage of my free time to bring my children to the festival so they could have more memorable childhood memories. This is also an opportunity for the family to gather together, showing love and care for the children."

Nguyen Chinh's family also participated in the festival with a giant Mid-Autumn Festival lantern.

For Ms. Le Thi Minh (Tran Phu Ward, Ha Tinh City), experiencing the lantern procession brought back memories of past Mid-Autumn Festivals. Ms. Minh reminisced: "Watching the children carry lanterns reminded me of the Mid-Autumn Festival nights when I was a child, enjoying feasts and gazing at the moon. Mid-Autumn Festival is no longer just for children; it's also for the elderly, young people, and every family. Looking at those giant, beautiful lanterns, I truly admire the skill and creativity of the people."

Under the skillful hands and unique creativity of the people, fairy tales, fables, scenic spots, and other stories have been brought to life by residents of wards and communes in Ha Tinh City, resulting in 108 dazzling and magical lantern models.

The dragon mascot, over 10 meters long, in Nguyen Du ward is attracting many viewers.

Nguyen Du Ward, the host of the festival, created all the necessary conditions and encouraged artisans from the residential areas to create models that would attract viewers, such as sacred dragons attending the festival, carp transforming into dragons, etc.

Mr. Duong Dinh Phuc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nguyen Du Ward, said: "During the festival, our giant lanterns were well-received, attracting much attention and photo opportunities from the public. To date, the ward remains a leading unit in terms of both scale and artistic merit, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship of the models. Each model bears the distinct mark of the creativity and solidarity of the people. It is a product that fully embodies the people's strength, both materially and spiritually, with contributions not only from neighborhood groups but also from businesses and philanthropists."

The model of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum from Dong Mon commune led the parade.

Along with Nguyen Du ward, the people of Dong Mon commune also left a deep impression on festival participants with their model of President Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum.

Mr. Ho Sy Giao, Secretary of the Lien Cong Village Party Branch, shared: "The model is a unique and creative creation, embodying all the dedication and wisdom of the people. The model of President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum is entirely handcrafted; it reflects the aspirations, joy, and hopes of the children to visit the Mausoleum. This is also the humanistic meaning of the festival, that all the best things are dedicated to children. We feel proud to have contributed our efforts and hope to continue participating in the festival in the following years."

The "Thanh Sen Lantern Procession Mid-Autumn Festival" is not just a festival for children, but a festival for the whole nation.

Besides the fairytale-inspired mascots, the brightly shining star-shaped lanterns, crafted by the creative hands of "amateur artisans" in Thach Linh ward, added vibrant colors to the festival night.

“Memories of moonlit nights from my childhood, going with friends to make star-shaped lanterns, inspired me to start shaping and crafting each lantern. What makes me happiest is the excitement, joy, and appreciation of the children for my creations. Through this, I contribute a small part to preserving traditional cultural identity for future generations,” said Mr. Nguyen Hong Ha (Thach Linh Ward, Ha Tinh City) emotionally.

People in Ha Tinh City participate in the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern procession.

According to Ho Quoc Tuan, Head of the Culture and Information Department of Ha Tinh City: "The 'Thanh Sen Mid-Autumn Lantern Procession' festival has become an attractive playground, drawing the attention of many children and people. The festival has created a cultural space that is both traditional and innovative in the heart of the city. After two days, the relevant departments will conduct analysis, evaluation, and draw lessons learned, which will serve as a basis for organizing similar events in future years."
