Changes to fees for changing or canceling train tickets on the North route.

Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company announced that it is applying new ticket exchange and refund fees after Tet, aiming to make it more convenient for passengers traveling on the North-South railway line.

Accordingly, from March onwards, when changing individual tickets, changes must be made at least 24 hours before the train departs, with a fee of 20,000 VND per ticket. Ticket changes cannot be made less than 24 hours in advance. However, group ticket changes are not applicable.

For ticket refunds, individual passengers must cancel their tickets at least 24 hours before departure, incurring a 10% fee; between 4 hours and less than 24 hours before departure, the fee is 20%; refunds are not accepted less than 4 hours before departure.

Passengers canceling group tickets must do so at least 72 hours before the train departure time, incurring a 10% cancellation fee; between 24 and 72 hours before departure, the fee is 20%; cancellations are not accepted less than 24 hours before departure.

For individual tickets purchased well in advance, the time and fees for changing or canceling depend on the discount. Specifically: for discounts under 20%, the time and fees for changing or canceling tickets are as stipulated above; for discounts of 20% or more, changes or cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the train departure time, and the fees are equal to the percentage of the promotional discount.

Ticket exchange/refund procedure: Passengers wishing to exchange tickets should go directly to the train station and bring the original identification documents of the passenger or ticket buyer to provide to railway staff for processing.

When passengers purchase and pay for tickets online through the railway's ticketing website, ticketing app, or third-party train ticketing applications (with email address entered), they can return the tickets online via the railway's ticketing website or directly at the train station.

When passengers purchase tickets using other methods, or when purchasing tickets without entering an email address, and wish to return a ticket, they must go directly to the train station and bring the original identification document of the passenger or ticket buyer to provide to the railway staff. Furthermore, the information on the train ticket must match the passenger's identification document.

These ticket change and refund fees are lower than during the Tet holiday period. Back then, the fees depended on the train type, travel date, and route, with a maximum of about 30% of the ticket price.
