'Village school' teacher writes textbooks

Teacher Minh Dang teaches at a small school, every day building the first bricks of love for information technology for students.

Self-study from many sources to compile textbooks

Along with textbooks, Mr. Minh Dang is also the author of teacher's books and computer science workbooks for grade 5 (Creative Horizons series - VietnamEducation Publishing House) approved for use by the Ministry of Education and Training.

The 5th grade Informatics Textbook is the third book that young teacher Nguyen Nhat Minh Dang has participated in compiling, after two reference books for the Youth Informatics Competition edited by Dr. Bui Viet Ha, published by Hanoi National University Publishing House.

Talking about the opportunity to get into this job, Mr. Minh Dang always mentions the word luck. "I really know that there are many teachers who are very good in the field of information technology, but I am lucky to be introduced and trusted by the Vietnam Education Publishing House," Mr. Dang shared.

The first time he participated in compiling textbooks, according to Mr. Dang, those were sleepless days. Because even though he had taught computer science for many years, designing a lesson that both teachers and students could use was something he had never imagined.

To be best prepared, he researched and consulted lesson design methods from many sources and focused on editing after unsatisfactory drafts.

Although he had to spend a lot of time compiling books, the young teacher was not discouraged because he knew this was a rare opportunity and also a chance for him to gain more experience and skills for his future teaching career.

Participating in the group of authors compiling the 5th grade computer science book and the process of consulting documents also gave him the opportunity to systematize his knowledge to have a teaching method to help arouse students' interest in computer science.

Put your heart into every lesson

Coming to the teaching profession, and having loved computer science since childhood, Mr. Dang always puts all his heart into every teaching hour. Perhaps because in him, the image of a teacher standing on the podium has become familiar from his own mother - an elementary school teacher. That is why both Dang and his younger brother chose the teaching profession.

In 2015, after graduating from the IT pedagogy major at Da Lat College, he returned to Don Duong to work closer to home. Thanks to his dedication, Minh Dang became a key IT teacher at the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province.

In addition to teaching in class, Mr. Dang also focuses on nurturing students with IT talent so that they can participate in competitions launched by superiors such as youth IT competitions and youth and children's creativity competitions.

With his experience, he has classified and selected students who are talented, passionate and love IT, from which he has built a training and review plan.

As a result, 3 students won first and second prizes at the National Youth Informatics Competition; 15 students won first, second, third and consolation prizes at the Lam Dong Youth Informatics Competition; 14 students won third and consolation prizes at the Lam Dong Youth and Children's Creativity Competition and 1 consolation prize at the provincial robot programming competition.

Talking about his career, young teacher Minh Dang said that his greatest success is not the big and small awards he has received, but the trust and love of his colleagues, parents and especially his students - the greatest asset of every teacher.

That is also a great motivation for him to constantly improve himself, together with the team of teachers, to strive on the journey of sowing knowledge.

Outstanding young teacher

Teacher Nguyen Nhat Minh Dang won the national first prize for excellent teacher in the programming playground of the YDI project, and was in the top 10 Young Intellectuals for Education organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

In particular, in the 2021-2022 school year, Mr. Minh Dang was one of the three teachers who won first prize in Lam Dong province in the national e-learning lesson design competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training. In 2024, he was recognized as an Outstanding Young Teacher by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Love and dedication to students

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Dao - Vice Principal of Thanh My Primary School - said that Mr. Dang started teaching at the school in 2015 and received a salary outside the budget.

Such a regime was very disadvantageous for Dang, but he still persisted in his studies because of his love for teaching IT. It was not until the 2022-2023 school year, when IT became a core subject in the general education program, that Dang was able to join the staff.

"Working directly with Dang from the first days at school, we were really impressed and felt Dang's seriousness, thoughtfulness and above all, his love and dedication to students," said Ms. Le Thi Thanh Dao.
