'The Equalizer 3' starring Denzel Washington leads box office revenue

After Marvel's record-breaking 2021 blockbuster Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($75 million in its first three days, $94.6 million through Wednesday), The Equalizer 3 is the highest-grossing debut.

The Equalizer 3's attendance speaks to Denzel Washington's box office appeal. The film earned an "A" CinemaScore from audiences and a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, the highest of The Equalizer trilogy.

The Equalizer 3 earned another $26.1 million at the international box office, bringing its global opening total to $60.6 million.

The Equalizer (2014) debuted with $34 million and The Equalizer 2 (2018) with $36 million. The first two films were also directed by Antoine Fuqua. The Equalizer and The Equalizer 2 each grossed over $100 million at the North American box office, and nearly $200 million worldwide.

The Equalizer 3 has a production budget of 70 million USD and is aiming for a total revenue similar to the previous 2 parts.
