The 19th Southeast Asian Bodybuilding Championship and the 57th Asian Bodybuilding Championship will be held concurrently in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 20th to 24th. This first international competition of 2025 is predicted to see a surge in Vietnamese bodybuilders – a team that finished second overall at the 2024 Asian Championship.
With the participation of 30 athletes, this is one of the biggest outings for Vietnamese bodybuilding, with the task of defending 7 individual championships and the runner-up position in the overall team competition achieved in Indonesia in August 2024.

Aside from the personal absences of Nguyen Thi Kim Cuong, Truong Quoc Long, and Nguyen Thanh Tien, the four 2024 Asian champions – Truong Hoang Long (bodybuilding, 85 kg), Ho Cong Hoai Long (bodybuilding, 55 kg), Nguyen Thi Kim Dung (women's fitness, height up to 1.65 m), and Chau Nguyen Kha (men's fitness, height up to 1.7 m) – will all participate, determined to defend their rankings during the tour in Thailand.
In the Vietnamese team participating in this competition, the presence of veteran weightlifters such as Dinh Kim Loan (8 world gold medals, 4 Asian gold medals) and Nguyen Thi Kim Dung (2 world gold medals, 2 Asian gold medals) will further motivate the entire team, which consists mostly of young athletes who have achieved many international successes in the last 5 years. Several experienced athletes such as Ta Thi Ngoc Bich, Le Thi Cam Huong, Nguyen Van Quang, Pham Minh My, Nguyen Ngoc Sy, Phung Huu Thanh… could potentially change the color of their medals after a year of intensive training and preparation for the international arena in 2025.
According to the coaching staff's calculations and arrangements, many athletes will participate in both the Southeast Asian and Asian championships simultaneously, while others will only participate in one of the two competitions, ensuring that the performance targets registered with the Vietnam Department of Sports and Physical Education are met, which include 3 Southeast Asian gold medals and 4 Asian gold medals.
The Vietnam Department of Sports and Physical Education has issued Decision 837/QD-TDTTVN, assembling and sending a national team of 30 bodybuilders to compete in the 19th Southeast Asian Bodybuilding Championship and the 57th Asian Bodybuilding Championship in 2025 – organized by the World Bodybuilding and Sport Physique Federation (WBPF) in Thailand. The competition will feature nearly 300 athletes from many countries and territories.
