Accordingly, 15 out of 30 cows belonging to 5 households showed symptoms of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD). All households with sick cows live close together and graze on the same pasture. The villagers discovered the sick cows on September 9th and treated them themselves using lemons and starfruit. Initial findings indicate the disease occurred spontaneously in the area (the sick cows were not vaccinated during the spring 2024 season).
Currently, Phan Xa Phuong village has a total of 270 buffaloes and cows. The risk of disease outbreak is very high due to grazing methods and the lack of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccination in the spring of 2024.
Given the complex developments of the Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak, the Cam Lo District Livestock and Veterinary Station and local authorities have informed the public; strictly prohibiting the buying, selling, transporting, and slaughtering of cattle in the affected area. They have also guided livestock farmers on how to isolate and treat sick animals, provided disinfectants, treated symptoms, and obtained commitments to implement disease prevention and control measures.
Organize disinfection and sterilization of the affected area and livestock farms according to regulations. Simultaneously, send technical staff to directly inspect, monitor, and guide treatment and disease prevention measures in the affected village. Organize emergency vaccination against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) to contain the outbreak and high-risk areas...
