Two more strikers are experiencing health problems.

In their opening match against Kuwait U23 (April 17th), Vietnam U23 played the second half with only 10 players. Therefore, the players had to work at a high intensity. Up until now, coach Hoang Anh Tuan has been receiving a series of bad news, while the match against Malaysia U23 is fast approaching.

Accordingly, striker Nguyen Van Tung is suffering from an ankle injury. He was the one who unleashed a powerful shot with the outside of his right foot to score against Kuwait U23, opening the scoring for Vietnam U23 in their first match of the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Championship. Besides Van Tung, striker Nguyen Quoc Viet is also suffering from a viral fever.

The availability of Van Tung and Quoc Viet for the match against U.23 Malaysia remains uncertain. However, with the match just over 24 hours away, it is considered unlikely that these two strikers will recover in time.

Without Van Tung, this would be a significant loss in terms of personnel for the Vietnam U23 team. In the opening match, Van Tung played quite well, while Quoc Viet was not included in the squad list.

Furthermore, Nguyen Dinh Bac had previously been diagnosed with a sprained ligament in his left ankle. The Quang Nam FC striker is highly likely to miss the 2024 U.23 Asian Championship. In the continental tournament, he only managed to run for about 10 minutes in the match against U.23 Kuwait before limping off the field.

However, fortunately, coach Hoang Anh Tuan has registered many forwards in the official squad this time. The coach from Khanh Hoa still has Vo Nguyen Hoang, Bui Vi Hao, Nguyen Van Truong, and Nguyen Minh Quang at his disposal. Even Khuat Van Khang can play as a winger.

The match between Vietnam U23 and Malaysia U23 will take place at 8 PM on April 20th.
