The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the investor of component 3 of the Long Thanh airport project, has just announced the results of the contractor selection for package 4.9 - construction, equipment installation and preparation of design drawings for the aircraft fuel supply system.
The various components of Long Thanh Airport are being launched one after another.
Accordingly, the joint venture between Vietnam Petroleum Technical Services Corporation ( PTSC ) and BCA Thang Long One-Member Limited Company was awarded this contract. The winning bid was nearly 2,900 billion VND, and the contract implementation period is 20 months (shortened by 2 months compared to the tender schedule).
Package 4.9 was put out to public tender online, closing on July 30, 2024, with 3 bidders participating. Of these, 2 bidders were disqualified during the technical evaluation stage for failing to meet the requirements.
After announcing the contractor selection results, ACV will negotiate and finalize the contract with the winning consortium. Construction on package 4.9 is expected to begin at the end of October.
According to ACV, the main packages of component project 3 are currently meeting the set schedule. The construction site currently has nearly 6,000 domestic and international engineers and workers, along with thousands of machines, vehicles, and equipment. Construction teams are operating at maximum capacity, working continuously day and night with the ultimate goal of accelerating progress. Currently, the rainy season is nearing its end, and construction will be further accelerated once the dry season begins.
Of these, package 5.10 - the passenger terminal - has reached nearly 30% completion. The consortium of contractors has completed all reinforced concrete columns, beams, and floor slabs for all levels. Currently, they are fabricating and erecting the steel structure for the roof.
Parallel to the construction progress of the structural work, all procurement and ordering of ME equipment, station equipment, HBS system, and facade glass curtain walls have been implemented, with contracts signed with suppliers and manufacturers, and are currently in the process of manufacturing and fabricating components... according to the set schedule.
The station has taken shape, with construction progressing dozens of days ahead of schedule.
The project is expected to complete all construction work before December 2025, with the facade erection completed before March 2026, simultaneously with finishing work, equipment installation, and trial operation testing starting in early 2026, aiming for completion before August 31, 2026.
As for package 4.6 - runway, taxiway, and apron - approximately 30% of the contract value has been completed. Earthwork, sand filling, crushed stone base course, and M150 and M350 cement concrete are currently being implemented.
Regarding the runway section, the sub-base and foundation layers have been completed, and the M150/25 cement concrete layer is basically finished. Currently, the M350/45 cement concrete surface layer is being implemented (approximately 40% completed), and is expected to be completed and put into technical operation before April 30, 2025, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, 3 months ahead of the contract schedule.
Specifically for package 6.12 - the T1-T2 connecting road, the contractor has mobilized 756 personnel and 150 pieces of machinery and equipment on the construction site and deployed multiple construction teams simultaneously. They have completed and are currently constructing K95 and K98 earth embankments for route number 2, and laying crushed stone aggregate for routes T1 and T2. They are also deploying bored piles, constructing bridge piers, Super T girders, hollow slab girders, cement-soil piles, and the drainage system. To date, the value of the completed work has reached approximately 55% of the contract value.
The projects are mobilizing a lot of machinery and equipment to speed up construction.
Line 1 is expected to be completed in November 2025, while the interchange between Line 1 and the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway will be completed in August 2025. Construction of the interchange between Line 2 and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway will be completed in October 2025. The project will be completed and handed over for use in December 2025.
Package 4.7 - construction and equipment installation for aircraft parking apron and other works - was also contracted from September 15, 2024. The winning consortium includes the following contractors: ACC Aviation Construction Corporation, Truong Son Construction Corporation, Vietnam Import-Export and Construction Corporation, Vietnam Construction Investment Development Corporation, Cienco 4 Group Corporation, and Six Four Seven Aviation Construction Corporation.
ACV commenced construction on the project in late September, with a planned implementation period of 690 days (almost two years). Completion is expected on August 11, 2026.
The component projects of Long Thanh Airport are progressing well.
Component project 2, air traffic control facilities, is progressing according to schedule. Specifically, the critical path air traffic control tower has completed its structural work, with the roof completed at the end of September, and the remaining components are currently being erected.
As for component project 1 - Headquarters of state management agencies, the construction progress is ensured to be synchronized with component project 3.
Component project 4 is also currently in the bidding process for priority works. The Ministry of Transport has already submitted reports regarding the remaining works.
The government prioritized the urgency and order of investment. Simultaneously, they agreed on a list of projects to be implemented by ACV to ensure the synchronized operation of the port.
Component project 5 - the re-establishment of infrastructure outside the Long Thanh airport boundary - is expected to be completed in November 2024.
Currently, 6 packages of component project 5 have completed construction; 3 packages have completed over 75% of the construction volume and 1 package has completed approximately 50% of the construction volume.
The Long Thanh Airport infrastructure reconstruction project comprises a total of 10 packages corresponding to 10 constructions, including: the Binh Son Commune Police headquarters; the Binh Son Commune Cultural, Sports and Community Learning Center; and the technical infrastructure of internal roads within the Binh Son Commune administrative area.
In addition, the project includes a cultural center and kindergarten in Hamlet 2, Binh Son Commune; Cau Men Road; the working headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Binh Son Commune; the road in Hamlet 2, Binh Son Commune; the Bau Can - Suoi Trau - Cam Duong road; and a medium- and low-voltage power grid system. The total investment for the project is over 479 billion VND.
