Kaleidoscope is Nguyen Nhat Anh's first full-length series for school-aged children. For over 30 years, the series has been a part of the childhood of many generations of Vietnamese readers. The stories about family, school, friendship, and adventures and discoveries in the series have nurtured the dreams and aspirations of countless young readers.
With the desire to bring a new form of expression to the work, Kim Dong Publishing House is organizing a competition to adapt the literary work "Kaleidoscope" into a comic book.
The competition is open to authors or groups of authors, both professional and amateur, who are Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in or outside of Vietnam.
Entries must be comic strips with a minimum length of 10 pages, adapted from any excerpt or episode of the "Kaleidoscope" series. The organizers do not limit the number of entries per individual or group of authors. However, entries using AI-generated imagery or copyrighted images and characters will not be accepted.
The submission period runs from May 7th to October 31st, 2026. The results are expected to be announced in December 2026. The prize structure includes: 1 First Prize worth 15 million VND, 1 Second Prize worth 10 million VND, and 1 Third Prize worth 7 million VND.
The judging panel includes Nguyen Nhat Anh along with artists and editors from Kim Dong Publishing House. The winning author will have the opportunity to become the author of the comic book series "Kaleidoscope ," and will collaborate with the publisher to complete and publish their work.
