Pilot program to manage passenger flow using passports and travel documents across Bac Luan II Bridge.

(HQ Online) - The People's Committee of Mong Cai City has just piloted a system for directing tourists using passports and travel documents to enter and exit the country through the Mong Cai international border gate at the Bac Luan 2 bridge area on Saturdays and Sundays every week.

Based on the agreement reached between the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Province and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China), and the exchange of letters from the Department of Commerce and Border Gate Management of Dongxing City (China), from December 11, 2023, visitors using official passports and border travel permits are permitted to clear customs at Mong Cai International Border Gate (Bac Luan II Bridge area). Customs clearance hours are from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM Hanoi time (i.e., from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Beijing time).

On March 19, 2024, at a meeting titled "Assessment of the results of immigration and emigration activities at the Mong Cai International Border Gate, Bac Luan II Bridge area, from November 2023 to the present," chaired by the Mong Cai City People's Committee, it was agreed to pilot a system for separating tourists using passports and travel documents for immigration and emigration through the Bac Luan II Bridge customs clearance point on Saturdays and Sundays. On other days of the week, normal immigration and emigration activities will continue at the Mong Cai International Border Gate, Bac Luan I Bridge and Bac Luan II Bridge areas, as per regulations. The pilot period will run from March 20, 2024, to the end of April 2024.

To ensure favorable conditions for customs clearance of passengers at Mong Cai International Border Gate (Bac Luan II Bridge area), the Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Sub-Department, Quang Ninh Customs Department, has proactively coordinated with functional forces at the border gate to effectively manage traffic flow, deploy sufficient personnel and equipment, ensure security and order, and create the most favorable conditions for citizens of both countries when completing immigration procedures at Mong Cai International Border Gate (Bac Luan II Bridge area).

According to Mr. Hoang Van Luyen, representative of TOT International Tourism Co., Ltd., passengers entering and exiting the country were extremely excited to experience the electric vehicle service through the Mong Cai International Border Gate (Bac Luan II Bridge area). The border gate authorities created all the necessary conditions for the company and passengers to complete immigration procedures quickly.

Following China's easing of policies after a long period of implementing "Zero Covid," the number of people crossing the border through the Mong Cai - Dongxing border gate has been steadily increasing. Therefore, enhancing the functionality of border crossings at the Mong Cai International Border Gate (Bac Luan II Bridge area) will contribute to boosting tourism between Vietnam and China.

On the morning of March 23, 2024, the first day of the pilot implementation, more than 400 passengers completed exit procedures at the Bac Luan II border gate.
