| Christmas decorations have been released onto the market. |
Even in mid-November, more than a month before Christmas, crowds of people flocked to shops to buy decorations. It wasn't just restaurant and cafe owners; many ordinary people were also taking advantage of the opportunity to choose brightly colored items to decorate their spaces.
Depending on the space being decorated, everyone's shopping ideas are different. Upon entering a decoration section on the second floor of Aeon Mall Hue , Mr. Nguyen Vu (from Vy Da ward) was overwhelmed by the variety and eye-catching display of decorations this year, with a wide range of prices to choose from. "Every year, my family spends a small amount on decorations to create a Christmas atmosphere. It changes the look of our house and makes the holiday season more enjoyable for the children," Mr. Vu explained his reason for buying decorations.
Usually, every year he would buy a plastic Christmas tree costing around 2 million VND, plus a few decorations, but this year, he decided to buy a large Santa Claus figure along with some ornaments, tinsel, and gift boxes. "Every year I have a different idea, as long as my house looks sparkling," Mr. Vu added. After some deliberation, he and his son finally bought the items they liked, which he believes will make Christmas more impressive and create a highlight to welcome guests to celebrate.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nhat Binh, the owner of a shop on Chu Van An Street in the Western Quarter, also took the opportunity to choose decorations for his space. Because his shop is located in the bustling Western Quarter, decorating for Christmas to welcome customers, especially Western tourists, is an important tradition. Besides a medium-sized Christmas tree, Mr. Binh also spent a considerable amount on decorative lighting, gift boxes, reindeer, and many colorful string lights…
“Every Christmas season, I usually spend 5-7 million VND on decorations. It’s not just a hobby, but it also creates a lively atmosphere. That way, the whole Western Quarter becomes vibrant during the holidays, and Western tourists feel like they’re right in their homeland during this meaningful occasion,” Mr. Binh confided. He added that most restaurants and shops in the Western Quarter pay great attention to Christmas decorations.
According to Mr. Binh, the difference this year is the color. Unlike the main colors of white, green, yellow, and red for Christmas, this year, decorations come in many other colors, giving customers plenty of choices. "This makes the colors of the festival more diverse and the decorations more interesting, reflecting each person's individual style. Beautiful decorations also determine the ability to attract customers because the Christmas season extends into New Year's Day," Mr. Binh added.
According to observations at many decoration shops in the center of Hue City, in addition to Christmas trees of all sizes, this year's Christmas decoration market is extremely diverse with many new and colorful designs. These include wooden church models, lampposts, fairytale garden houses, sleighs, reindeer… as well as Santa Claus figures, gift boxes, ribbons, bows, and stars – all very beautiful. Depending on the item, for example, Christmas trees range in price from 1.6 to 2 million VND, while larger ones cost from 6 to 10 million VND. Other decorations range in price from 500,000 to 5 million VND per item, depending on size.
According to Mr. Mai Van, the manager of a decoration shop, this is the beginning of the Christmas decoration season, and the number of customers will start to increase soon. Although the goods are abundant, prices are generally stable and have not increased compared to last year.
"Our best-selling item is the Christmas tree. Besides that, a few small decorative items for the desk or as gifts are also very popular," Mr. Van said. The busiest time is at the beginning of December. In addition to decorations, the gifts are also well-designed, eye-catching, and reasonably priced, thus encouraging customers to spend more.
| Not only are stores selling Christmas decorations attracting customers, but the custom Christmas decorating service is also booming. Depending on the customer's preferences and requirements, those providing this service can fulfill everything from decorating private homes to restaurants, or simply a small corner in a particular space. "Currently, people mainly check prices and book appointments. Besides decorating the Christmas tree, customers also request custom cut-out patterns or drawings on glass and walls," shared Thai Nguyen , a professional Christmas decorator. |
