With just over a week left until the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the market for decorative items in the city has become vibrant with a wide variety of products and eye-catching designs.

People are choosing decorative items for Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year).

Observations along Ton Duc Thang, Au Co, Pham Nhu Xuong streets (Lien Chieu ward), Hung Vuong, Trung Nu Vuong streets (Hai Chau ward), Phan Chau Trinh street (Tam Ky ward)... clearly show the Tet atmosphere with vibrant red and yellow colors covering the stalls. Lanterns, decorative garlands, spring couplets, lucky money envelopes, and Tet mascots are abundantly displayed, attracting people to visit and shop.

Besides traditional products, many new designs are exquisitely crafted, reflecting a modern style while still preserving the cultural essence of the traditional Tet holiday. Familiar items such as decorative hanging ornaments, spring couplets, red envelopes, and decorative balls continue to be popular with consumers, primarily in red and yellow, symbolizing luck and prosperity. Notably, this year is the Year of the Horse (Bính Ngọ), so the image of the horse is prevalent on many products.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Sen, owner of a Tet decoration shop on Ton Duc Thang Street, since the beginning of the twelfth lunar month, her business has proactively imported many items to serve people's shopping needs such as lanterns, string lights, decorative paintings, etc. These are products that sell quite well during each Tet holiday. The selling price of these items ranges from tens of thousands to several million dong depending on the design, size, and level of craftsmanship. Notably, this year, decorative string lights and traditional lanterns are favored by customers.

According to small business owners, although the prices of some items have increased slightly this year due to rising raw material and transportation costs, the increase is insignificant. To facilitate buyers, many stores are maintaining stable prices, and some are even implementing promotional programs.

Currently, popular products include: lanterns priced from 100,000 to 500,000 VND/piece, calligraphic couplets from 50,000 to 150,000 VND/product, peach blossom branch hanging ornaments from 30,000 to 100,000 VND/piece, and Tet mascot statues from 100,000 to 500,000 VND/piece...

Ms. Tran Thi Truc Ly (Hai Chau ward) shared: “This year's Tet decorations are very diverse, with beautiful designs, reasonable prices, and haven't fluctuated much. I prioritize choosing domestically produced products because of their good quality and clear origin.”

Alongside traditional shopping channels, e-commerce platforms like Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop have also become popular choices for many people. Responding to market demand, these platforms implement numerous promotional programs and convenient delivery policies, making shopping easier for consumers.

Ms. Pham Anh Dao (Son Tra ward) said: “Due to my busy work schedule, I have little time to shop in person, so I often order Tet decorations through online channels. This way, I save both time and money because there are many promotions.”
